Why Use This Product:
The SM6 starter unit is ideal when you need a straightforward cantilever rack system without having to select each component separately. Single-sided cantilever racks work well when placed against a wall or along the perimeter of a warehouse, shop, or storage area. The adjustable arm design allows you to change storage levels as material sizes change, while the built-in arm pitch helps compensate for deflection under load. MECO Omaha Series 1000 uprights, arms, and brace sets are not interchangeable with any other rack series, so using the correct Series 1000 components is important for proper fit, stability, and performance.

How It Helps Your Operation:
This cantilever starter unit helps your operation store materials such as lumber, pipe, tubing, bar stock, trim, conduit, and other long items in a cleaner and more accessible layout. By keeping materials organized and off the floor, the SM6 can help improve space utilization, reduce handling time, and support safer picking and restocking. The starter unit format also gives you a strong foundation for future expansion, allowing you to add compatible Series 1000 add-on units as your storage needs grow.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are MECO Series 1000 Cantilever Rack Starter and Add-On Units used for?
MECO Series 1000 Cantilever Rack Starter and Add-On Units are used to store long, bulky, or irregular materials. They are commonly used for lumber, pipe, tubing, bar stock, trim, and similar inventory. A starter unit provides the first complete storage bay, including uprights, arms, and brace sets. Add-on units extend the rack system as storage needs grow. These racks help keep oversized materials off the floor and make them easier to access.
How do cantilever racks help improve facility organization?
Cantilever racks create open-front storage for materials that do not fit well on standard shelving. Workers can place long items across the arms without vertical shelf posts blocking access. This helps reduce floor clutter and makes materials easier to identify. Organized rack storage can also improve picking, staging, and inventory control. Facilities use these systems to create cleaner storage areas for difficult-to-handle materials.
Should I choose a single-sided or double-sided cantilever rack?
Choose a single-sided cantilever rack when the unit will sit against a wall or along a perimeter. This layout stores material on one side while keeping the opposite side clear. Choose a double-sided cantilever rack for open floor areas with access from both sides. Double-sided units can increase storage capacity in the same general footprint. The right choice depends on aisle layout, forklift access, and available floor space.
What is the difference between a starter unit and an add-on unit?
A starter unit includes the components needed to create one complete cantilever rack bay. It typically includes two uprights, straight arms, and brace sets. An add-on unit connects to a starter unit to expand the storage row. This allows facilities to expand the system without buying complete bays separately each time. Starter and add-on layouts help match storage capacity to current and future needs.
What should buyers know before ordering MECO Series 1000 components?
Buyers should confirm upright height, arm style, storage layout, and whether single-sided or double-sided access is needed. Series 1000 models are available in 6-foot, 8-foot, and 10-foot upright heights. MECO Omaha Series 1000 uprights, arms, and brace sets are not interchangeable with other rack series. Matching the correct components is important for fit, stability, and performance. Buyers should also consider material length, load weight, and forklift aisle clearance before ordering.
