Why Use This Product

Use a structural, all-welded upright frame when you need dependable rack performance under heavier loads, frequent forklift traffic, and daily operational wear. Upright frames are the backbone of selective pallet racking, and choosing a heavy-duty structural frame helps reduce sway, maintain alignment, and improve overall rack stability compared to lighter-duty designs. This model is designed to meet AISC and RMI standards, making it a strong fit for facilities that prioritize engineering-based rack layouts and consistent, repeatable storage capacity

How It Helps Your Operation

This upright frame helps your operation increase usable vertical storage while keeping layouts organized and adjustable. Select your upright height based on ceiling height, sprinkler requirements, and forklift lift limits, then set beam elevations to match pallet loads and picking needs. Depth selection matters too, because pallet overhang supports safe handling and protects loads. As a reference, a 48-inch deep pallet commonly pairs with a 42-inch deep upright to allow about 3 inches of overhang in front and 3 inches in back. For capacity planning, upright systems can support up to 34,800 pounds per bay when configured with 60-inch vertical beam spacing or less, with final capacity depending on beams, spacing, and the full rack design

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a MECO Structural Pallet Rack Upright Frame used for?
A MECO Structural Pallet Rack Upright Frame is used as the vertical support structure in a heavy-duty pallet rack system. It helps form the sides of a rack bay and works with compatible beams to support palletized inventory. These upright frames are commonly used in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and industrial storage areas that handle heavy pallet loads. The rigid, all-welded construction provides a strong foundation for storing products above the floor in organized rack positions. Depending on beam configuration, beam spacing, and overall rack design, upright frame systems can provide storage capacity up to 34,800 pounds per bay. For facilities that need dependable industrial storage racking, the upright frame is one of the most important parts of the system.
How can MECO 3-inch structural upright frames help improve warehouse storage capacity?
MECO 3-inch structural upright frames help improve warehouse storage capacity by allowing palletized materials to be stored vertically instead of spread across floor space. By adding rack levels above the floor, facilities can organize more inventory within the same general footprint. This can help reduce congestion in aisles, staging areas, and production zones. Upright height should be selected based on ceiling height, sprinkler clearances, and forklift lift limitations. When the correct height and depth are chosen, the rack system can better align with the facility layout and pallet-handling needs. A properly planned pallet rack system can support cleaner storage, better inventory visibility, and more efficient material flow.
What key features should buyers know about MECO Structural Pallet Rack Upright Frames?
MECO Structural Pallet Rack Upright Frames are rigid, all-welded frames designed for heavy-duty pallet rack applications. They are fabricated from structural channels, which makes them suitable for demanding industrial storage environments. Each frame includes 3 inch wide by 3 inch long base plates for anchoring and support. MECO structural pallet racking is designed in accordance with AISC and RMI standards, which are important references for steel construction and rack design. Installation is straightforward using standard tools, which can help reduce setup complexity. Capacity depends on the full rack design, including beam configuration, beam spacing, upright height, and load placement.
How do you choose the right upright frame height and depth?
The right upright frame height depends on your facility’s ceiling height, sprinkler clearance requirements, forklift lift height, and storage goals. Choosing an upright that is too tall for the building or handling equipment can create layout problems and limit practical use. Upright depth is usually based on pallet depth and the desired amount of pallet overhang. For example, a 48-inch-deep pallet commonly uses a 42-inch-deep upright, leaving about 3 inches of overhang at the front and 3 inches at the back. This overhang helps ensure proper pallet placement while maintaining efficient rack depth. Buyers should also consider aisle width, load size, and beam spacing when planning a structural pallet rack system.
What types of facilities typically use MECO Structural Pallet Rack Upright Frames?
MECO Structural Pallet Rack Upright Frames are commonly used in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, wholesale operations, and industrial storage areas. They are a practical choice for facilities that store palletized products, raw materials, finished goods, and bulk inventory. Because these frames are designed for heavy-duty pallet rack systems, they are often used in applications where load capacity and durability are important. They can help organize inventory by product type, SKU, turnover rate, or storage zone. When paired with the proper beams and layout, structural pallet racking can improve forklift access and reduce floor-level clutter. For operations that need strong storage racks for heavy pallet loads, these upright frames provide the vertical structure needed to build an efficient rack system.
