Handle-It Heavy Duty Guard Rail Units for Forklift and Pedestrian Safety

Handle-It heavy-duty guardrail units are preconfigured steel safety barriers designed to separate forklift and vehicle traffic from pedestrian walkways, work areas, machinery, and other protected zones in industrial facilities. Each unit is built from high-strength steel that absorbs impacts from forklifts and pallet jacks, redirecting collision energy along the rail rather than allowing it to transfer to equipment, structures, or personnel behind the barrier. The bright safety yellow finish maintains high visibility in busy warehouse and production environments.

The system is modular: start each run with a starter unit and extend it with add-on units. Starter units include two posts and rails. Add-on units include one post and matching rails that share the adjacent unit's post to continue the run. Two rail-height options are available -- single rail and double rail -- across section lengths from 2' to 10', resulting in 36 models.

Floor anchor holes are pre-drilled in all base plates for secure installation.

Starter Units vs. Add-On Units:

Each rail run begins with one starter unit (S1 or S2), which includes two posts and the full rail assembly. Add-on units (A1 or A2) include one post and rails that connect to the previous unit's post to continue the run without redundant posts. To calculate the total number of units needed: one starter unit plus one add-on unit for each additional section in the run.

Selecting the Right Configuration:

♦ Single rail (S1/A1): One rail at forklift tire and lower mast height. Suited for defining boundaries, redirecting minor incidental contact, and providing a visible physical marker between traffic lanes and pedestrian areas in lower-speed forklift environments.

♦ Double rail (S2/A2): Two rails at different heights for greater coverage of the post profile. Better suited for higher-speed forklift traffic, heavier lift trucks, or areas where the barrier must intercept contact at both tire and mast height to fully protect pedestrians and equipment behind the rail.

♦ Section length (2' to 10'): Match section length to the layout. Shorter sections (2' to 4') suit tight corners, machine perimeters, and confined areas. Longer sections (6' to 10') cover open aisle runs and dock door approaches more efficiently with fewer post interruptions.

♦ Pedestrian Aisle Separation: Defining and physically protecting marked pedestrian walkways in warehouse and production environments where forklifts cross or run parallel to foot traffic zones.

♦ Loading Dock Approaches: Channeling forklift traffic through dock doors and preventing lateral drift into dock office areas, pedestrian staging zones, and wall-mounted equipment adjacent to the dock.

♦ Machine and Equipment Perimeters: Establishing a standoff distance between production machinery, control panels, and utility equipment and the forklift traffic lanes that run past them.

♦ Racking End Protection: Supplementing upright protectors by guarding the entire aisle-end approach to pallet rack rows, particularly at intersections where forklifts turn, and the end uprights are most exposed.

♦ Workstation and Pick Area Boundaries: Creating defined, protected areas around operator workstations, pick-and-pack tables, and ergonomic equipment in mixed-traffic zones where workers and vehicles share floor space.

♦ Column and Structural Protection: Positioning guard rail sections around building columns, fire suppression system components, electrical panels, and other fixed assets that cannot absorb forklift impact without significant repair costs.
