Rousseau 30" R-Series Modular Drawer Carts | Mobile Heavy-Duty Tool Storage, 400 lb Drawers 

The Rousseau 30" R-Series modular drawer cart steps up from the 24" mobile format with a wider drawer interior and more configuration variety, while keeping the same 400 lb per drawer capacity, full-extension slides, and industrial-grade construction. The 6" polyurethane casters, rated at 900 lb each, roll smoothly without marking floors and track predictably under full load, which matters in facilities where floor condition and cart stability in loaded aisles are both priorities.

The 30" width opens up a broader range of drawer configurations than the 24" format and adds three cart types not available on the narrower cart: models with a roll-out shelf alongside drawer positions, combination carts with drawers above a door and shelf section, and enclosed-only carts with shelves and a door but no drawers. These give the 30" series more flexibility for mixed-storage applications where not everything in the working set fits in a standard drawer.

Two depths are available: 21" (R5BDD) and 27" (R5BDG). Cart heights range from 35-1/4" to 45-1/2" with 3 to 7 drawers per cart. All carts are manufactured in North America.

Selecting the Right Cart:

♦ Depth, 21" (R5BDD) vs. 27" (R5BDG): The 21" depth keeps the cart footprint compact for tight aisle navigation. The 27" depth provides more drawer interior space for longer tools, larger trays, and items that need more front-to-back clearance. The 27" series also includes the R5BDG-2801/2802 drawer/roll-out shelf/door combination and R5BDG-3012 enclosed roll-out shelf/door cart, which are not offered in the 21" depth.

♦ Cart height and drawer count: The 35-1/4" to 35-1/2" height range provides 4 drawers or specialized combination formats in the most compact cart profile. The 37-1/2" height is the most common, covering 3- to 6-drawer configurations plus roll-out shelf variants. The 45-1/2" height supports 7 drawers or a 4-drawer with a door/shelf section for maximum storage per cart footprint.

♦ Drawer configurations: Uniform-height configurations (four 6" drawers, five with two 4" and three 6", six with two 3" and four 5") suit inventories where items fall into consistent size groups and drawer organization benefits from matching positions. Mixed-height configurations (one each from 3" to 8", or three 3" and three 5" and one 10") suit working sets that span a wider size range where each tool or part category benefits from a correctly sized dedicated drawer.

♦ Roll-out shelf models (R5BDD/G-3015/3016): One 3" drawer, three 6" drawers, and a roll-out shelf at the top. The pull-out shelf provides a flat work surface directly on the cart for layout, inspection, or assembly tasks, alongside the stored inventory, without the need for a separate bench.

♦ Drawer/door/shelf combination carts (R5BDD/G-3805/3806): Four drawers (two 3", two 4") above an enclosed door and shelf section. Suited to operations where some items fit in drawers, but bulkier or irregularly shaped items require enclosed shelf access within the same mobile unit.

♦ Drawer/door combination carts (R5BDD-2801/2802 and R5BDG-2801/2802): One drawer above a door section. The 21" deep versions have a plain door; the 27" deep versions include a roll-out shelf behind the door. A compact, mobile format for operations that primarily require enclosed storage, with one dedicated drawer position.

♦ Enclosed shelf/door-only carts (R5BDD-3014, R5BDG-3012, R5BDG-3014): No drawers, one or two shelves, one door. These are mobile, enclosed storage units designed to pair with drawer carts, handling items too large or awkward for drawers while keeping the full kit mobile.

♦ Partitions: Models marked "Yes" include drawer divider partitions. Models marked "No" have open interiors.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Setup and Changeover Carts: Staging all tooling, fixturing, and gauges for a specific production setup in one mobile cart that rolls to each machine at changeover, keeping the setup kit together and eliminating back-and-forth trips to a stationary tool crib.

♦ Maintenance and Repair Operations: A dedicated maintenance cart stocked with the tools and spare parts for specific equipment types, rolled to the asset being serviced and kept at the job site until work is complete, reducing tool transport time and loss risk.

♦ Assembly Support: Supplying a production line or assembly cell with all components, fasteners, and tools for a specific build order in a mobile cart that can be repositioned as the line configuration changes between orders.

♦ Quality and Inspection: Transporting gauges, fixtures, calibration references, and measurement tools between machines, CMM stations, and receiving inspection without carrying items individually, keeping the full inspection kit organized and accounted for.

♦ Tool Crib Mobile Dispensing: Issuing tools from a central tool crib to a job location within the facility in a secure, organized cart that can be returned, checked in, and restocked for the next job without individual item handling.

♦ Field Service Staging: Outfitting a service technician with all tools and parts for a scheduled service route in a single mobile cart that can be loaded in advance, staged at the vehicle, and moved directly to each service position on site.
