Rousseau L-Series 40-Inch High Compact Drawer Cabinet

The 40" high L-Series compact drawer cabinet is the tallest format in the Rousseau L-Series compact lineup. It shares the same 18" width, 100 lb per drawer capacity, and full-extension slides as the shorter L-Series heights, but the additional cabinet height opens up configurations that don't fit in the 24", 28", or 34" formats -- most notably the 8-drawer layout combining seven shallow drawers with a deep 12" base drawer, and a variety of 6- and 7-drawer mixed-height configurations that use the full 40" interior to spread out the inventory across more positions.

At 40" tall, these units are floor-standing cabinets suited to aisle-end positions, maintenance shop walls, and standalone installations where a taller compact unit provides more organized storage than a shorter format without approaching the footprint or weight of an R-Series cabinet.

Two drawer/door combination formats also appear in this series: one with four drawers above a door and shelf section, and one with three 6" drawers above a door section. Both fit the 18" x 40" format for use alongside pure drawer units in a storage run. Two depths are available: 21" (L3ABD series) and 27" (L3ABG series). All units are manufactured in North America with concealed fasteners.

Selecting the Right Unit:

♦ Depth -- 21" (L3ABD) vs. 27" (L3ABG): The 21" depth suits aisle-end and wall-mounted positions with limited front-to-back clearance. The 27" depth provides additional drawer interior space for longer tools and items that require more depth. Both share the same drawer configurations across the lineup.

♦ Three-drawer units (L3ABD/G-4007/4008): Three uniform 12" drawers. The deepest per-drawer configuration in the L-Series, suited to large tools, boxed components, and bulky items that need maximum vertical clearance in a drawer at the 100 lb capacity level.

♦ Five-drawer units (L3ABD/G-4047/4048): Two 3" drawers over one 6" drawer over two 12" drawers. A spread of shallow-to-deep positions suited to operations storing a mix of very thin items alongside bulkier or taller ones in the same cabinet.

♦ Six-drawer units: Three configurations. Six uniform 6" drawers (L3ABD/G-4005/4006) suit mid-size tools and components where a consistent drawer height works well for the full inventory. One 3" over one 5" over two 6" over two 8" drawers (L3ABD/G-4025/4026) provides a spread from shallow to mid-deep suited to varied mid-range inventory. One 3" over one 4" over one 5" over two 6" over one 12" drawers (L3ABD/G-4029/4030) builds from shallow to deep with one large base drawer. Two 4" over two 6" over two 8" drawers (L3ABD/G-4031/4032) use three paired heights, providing a simple mixed layout for three inventory size categories.

♦ Seven-drawer units (L3ABD/G-4027/4028): One 3" over two 4" over one 5" over two 6" over one 8" drawers -- seven distinct positions covering a wide span of drawer heights in a single 40" cabinet. Best suited to operations where the working set spans a wide range of item sizes and each category benefits from its own dedicated position.

♦ Eight-drawer units (L3ABD/G-4011/4012): Four 3" over three 4" over one 12" drawers -- the highest drawer count in the L-Series. Seven shallow positions for high-count small-parts or tool organization, with one deep 12" position at the base for larger items. This is the compact-format equivalent of the high-density configurations in the R-Series, suited to positions where drawer count matters more than maximum per-drawer capacity.

♦ Drawer/door combination units: L3ABD/G-4015/4016 include four drawers (1x3", 2x4", 1x5") above a door and shelf section. L3ABD/G-4017/4018 include three 6" drawers above a door section. Both provide mixed drawer and enclosed storage in the 18" x 40" footprint, suited to positions where most items fit in the drawer section but at least one category needs enclosed shelf access.

♦ Partitions: Drawer models marked "Yes" include divider partitions. Models marked "No" have open interiors.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Aisle-End and Wall-Installed Storage: The 40" height provides a substantial drawer count while staying below most standard shelving and racking heights, making it easy to position at the end of rack rows, along machine lines, and against walls without obstructing visibility or access.

♦ Maintenance Shop Tool and Parts Storage: Eight drawers of organized storage in an 18" footprint give maintenance shops a compact way to keep a full working inventory of hand tools, fasteners, and small spare parts within reach without dedicating a wide floor section to storage.

♦ Work Cell Secondary Storage: A taller compact cabinet at a machine or assembly cell position provides more organized drawer positions than the 24" or 34" formats while staying narrow enough to fit in tight locations alongside equipment.

♦ Modular Storage Arrays: Combining 40" drawer units with door/drawer combination units in a continuous run where consistent height and a narrow profile are both important, such as along a back wall or between machines.

♦ Field Service and Repair Staging: Organized compact storage for service technicians who need a full range of hand tools, gauges, and small spare parts in one unit that fits in a service bay, van-adjacent staging area, or portable field station.

♦ Lab and Technical Environments: The tallest L-Series format for technical workstations where more than six organized drawer positions are needed per unit and the 100 lb per drawer capacity is sufficient for the inventory being stored.
