MECO Series 1000 Medium Duty Double-Sided Cantilever Uprights for Medium-Duty Long Material Storage

These are individual, double-sided uprights and bases for the MECO Series 1000 Medium Duty Cantilever Rack system. The price includes the upright column and base only. Cantilever arms and brace sets are sold separately. This page is the double-sided counterpart to the single-sided upright page -- use these uprights when building freestanding rows where materials will be stored on both sides of the rack, with aisle access from either direction.

The wider bases on double-sided uprights provide the lateral stability needed to support arm loading from both sides simultaneously. Uprights are available in five heights (6', 7', 8', 10', 12') and three base widths per height. The base width determines which arm lengths are compatible. Series 1000 uprights are compatible only with Series 1000 arms and brace sets -- not interchangeable with any other MECO rack series.

Choosing the Right Model:

The model number encodes the height and base width. The prefix MDU indicates double-sided. The first two digits indicate the upright height in feet (MDU6 = 6', MDU7 = 7', MDU8 = 8', MDU10 = 10', MDU12 = 12'). The last two or three digits indicate the base width in inches (54, 78, or 102).

Base width determines compatible arm lengths:

♦ 54" base: compatible with 12", 18", and 24" arms. For shorter reach applications with narrower load widths.

♦ 78" base: compatible with 30" and 36" arms. For medium-reach applications.

♦ 102" base: compatible with 42" and 48" arms. For the longest arm reach in the Series 1000 system.

Upright height determines storage levels and ceiling clearance. Taller uprights allow more arm levels and higher stack storage. Verify ceiling clearance before ordering 10' or 12' uprights. For aisle planning, note that double-sided racks project arms on both sides -- total aisle impact is the combined reach of arms on both sides plus the upright width.

To build a starter unit, order two uprights, arms, and a brace set. To extend a row, order one upright per add-on bay plus arms and a brace set. Arms and brace sets are available separately on the MECO Series 1000 components pages.

Where Double-Sided Series 1000 Uprights Are Commonly Used:

♦ Center-aisle rack rows in open floor areas: Freestanding double-sided rows positioned in the center of a storage bay allow forklift or hand-truck access from both sides, maximizing storage density in open warehouse space.

♦ Expanding existing double-sided installations: Adding uprights to an existing double-sided row that has reached capacity without purchasing a full starter unit.

♦ Custom row layouts: Building a specific number of bays or bay spacing to fit a defined floor plan when the standard starter/add-on unit combinations do not match the required configuration.

♦ Replacement uprights for existing double-sided rows: Replacing a damaged upright in an active double-sided rack installation while keeping the rest of the system in service.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is MECO Series 1,000 medium duty cantilever racking used for?
MECO Series 1,000 medium duty cantilever racking stores long, bulky items that do not fit well on standard pallet racks. It supports materials like lumber, pipe, tubing, bar stock, and other products with uneven lengths. The open-front design allows workers to load and unload items without front columns getting in the way. That makes it a practical storage system for warehouses, shops, and industrial facilities.
How does MECO Series 1,000 cantilever racking help a facility run better?
This cantilever racking helps facilities organize long materials in a safer and more efficient way. It keeps inventory off the floor, reducing clutter and opening up valuable working space. A better-organized system also helps workers find, pick, and restock items more quickly. Over time, that can improve flow in storage areas and support cleaner daily operations.
What are the key features of MECO Series 1,000 medium duty cantilever racking?
MECO Series 1,000 medium-duty cantilever racking uses upright columns and arms to support long loads with clear access from the front. Many layouts include starter units to begin a row and add-on units to expand storage capacity. The system can often be configured with straight arms or inclined arms, depending on the material being stored. This flexibility helps facilities match the rack layout to product size, weight, and handling needs.
What types of facilities commonly use medium duty cantilever racking?
Medium-duty cantilever racking is common in warehouses, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and maintenance departments. It is also useful in lumber yards, metal shops, and backroom storage areas with long inventory. Facilities choose it when products are difficult to stack safely on shelves or pallets. It works especially well for operations that need fast access to materials of different lengths.
Why choose MECO Series 1,000 cantilever racking for long material storage?
MECO Series 1,000 cantilever racking gives facilities a structured way to store long inventory without wasting floor space. Its design enhances visibility, helping teams check stock levels and locate materials faster. It also allows facilities to build rows that fit current demand and expand later as storage needs change. For many operations, this creates a more orderly storage area and supports safer material handling.
