Hallowell DuraTough Vented storage cabinets provide three-sided airflow in an all-welded steel cabinet at the same 1,450-pound-per-shelf capacity as the standard solid-door and safety-view DuraTough models. The doors and sides use diamond perforated steel panels, and the back uses a 13-gauge flattened expanded metal panel. This combination allows air to circulate through the entire cabinet interior, front to back and side to side, rather than through the doors alone.

The result is consistent ventilation that reduces humidity buildup, prevents musty odors, and helps moisture-absorbing gear like PPE, uniforms, and equipment dry between uses. Items stored in the cabinet are also partially visible through the perforated panels, providing some content visibility without the full transparency of the safety-view polycarbonate doors. Locking is by a 3-point system, consistent with the rest of the DuraTough lineup.

Two cabinet widths are available: 36" (HW4VSC6478-4) and 48" (HW4VSC8478-4). Both are 24" deep and 78" high. Each includes 4 adjustable shelves and 1 fixed shelf at 1,450 pounds per shelf. Additional shelves are available separately in matching 36" and 48" widths.

Selecting the Right Cabinet:

♦ Width, 36" vs. 48": the 36"-wide model suits standard wall positions and tighter bay locations. The 48"-wide model provides more shelf surface per unit for operations storing wider items or preferring fewer cabinet units per storage run. Both models carry the same 1,450-pound-per-shelf capacity and the same full ventilation specification.

♦ Vented vs. solid-door DuraTough, the standard Hallowell DuraTough solid-door cabinet (HW4SC series) uses the same welded construction and 1,450-pound shelf capacity but encloses the interior fully. Choose the vented model when airflow is needed to manage moisture, odors, or to dry gear. Choose the solid-door model when full enclosure is preferred or required.

♦ Vented vs. safety-view DuraTough, the safety-view model (HW4SVSC series) uses polycarbonate door panels for full visibility into the cabinet interior. The vented model uses perforated steel panels that allow airflow and partial visibility but not full through-panel transparency. Choose the vented model when airflow is the primary requirement. Choose the safety-view model when unobstructed visual confirmation of inventory is the primary requirement.

♦ Three-sided ventilation vs. door-only ventilation: many ventilated cabinets use louvered or perforated door panels only, relying on air entering through the doors to circulate through a sealed interior. The DuraTough vented model adds perforated side panels and an expanded metal back, allowing air to enter and exit from three sides simultaneously. This improves circulation throughout the cabinet interior, particularly for items stored away from the door opening.
