Rousseau 36" R-Series modular drawer carts provide a wider drawer interior than the 24" and 30" cart formats, accommodating longer tools, larger fixture sets, and broader parts assortments in each drawer position. The 400 lb per drawer capacity, 6" polyurethane casters (rated at 900 lb each), and full-extension slides carry through from the narrower cart formats, but the 36" width opens up drawer configurations and combination cart formats that suit operations with more varied or oversized mobile storage needs.

Two depths are available: 18" (R5BEC) and 24" (R5BEE). The 18" depth is notably shallow, suited to tight-clearance positions where front-to-back footprint is a limiting factor. The 24" depth provides significantly more drawer interior space and is the more common choice for general-purpose mobile tool and parts storage. Cart heights range from 35-1/2" to 45-1/2" with 3 to 7 drawers. Several configurations also include roll-out shelves or door sections alongside the drawer positions. All carts are manufactured in North America.

Selecting the Right Cart:

♦ Depth, 18" (R5BEC) vs. 24" (R5BEE): The 18" depth is the shallowest mobile cart format in the R-Series lineup and suits positions where aisle width or clearance is very tight, or where the cart must fit alongside equipment that limits front-to-back access. The 24" depth is more practical for most applications, providing a drawer interior large enough for the full range of tools and parts typically stored on a production or maintenance cart. Most configurations are available in both depths, though some enclosed-only and roll-out shelf formats differ between the two.

♦ Cart height and drawer count: The 35-1/2" height (2801/2802/2803/2804 series) provides 4 drawers or a drawer/door combination in the most compact cart profile. The 37-1/2" height covers the widest range of configurations, from 3 to 6 drawers plus roll-out shelf and enclosed-only formats. The 45-1/2" height (3801/3802/3803/3804/3805/3806 series) reaches 7 drawers or a 4-drawer with a door section for maximum storage per footprint.

♦ Drawer configurations: Uniform-height configurations suit inventories where items are similar in size. Mixed-height configurations suit working sets where drawer heights need to vary to match item sizes, from a 3"/4"/5"/6"/8" five-drawer spread to a 3x3"/3x5"/1x10" seven-drawer layout at the tall cart height.

♦ Roll-out shelf models (R5BEC-3015, R5BEE-3015/3016): One 3" drawer, three 6" drawers, and a roll-out shelf. The pull-out shelf creates a work surface at the cart for layout, inspection, or staging tasks alongside the stored inventory.

♦ Enclosed shelf/door carts (R5BEC-3012/3014, R5BEE-3012/3014): No drawers, a roll-out shelf or fixed/adjustable shelf combination, and a door. Mobile enclosed storage companions to the drawer carts, suited to items that don't fit in standard drawers.

♦ Drawer/door combination carts (R5BEC-3806, R5BEE-3805/3806): Four drawers (two 3", two 4") above an enclosed door section in the 45-1/2" tall cart. Suits operations where the working set includes both small organized items (drawers) and bulkier items needing enclosed access (door section) in a single mobile unit.

♦ Partitions: Models marked "Yes" include drawer divider partitions. Models marked "No" have open interiors.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Machining and Setup Operations: A wider drawer interior than the 24" or 30" cart format means longer toolholders, larger fixture assemblies, and full setup kits can be stored flat in organized positions rather than angled or split across multiple carts.

♦ Maintenance and Repair Operations: Bringing a complete set of tools, spare parts, and measurement equipment to the asset being serviced, with the 36" drawer width accommodating the larger hand tools and specialty equipment common in heavy equipment maintenance.

♦ Assembly Support and Kitting: Staging a full build kit in a cart at an assembly cell, with wider drawers that accommodate the range of components and fasteners for the order, reducing restocking trips and keeping the kit together from start to finish.

♦ Quality and Inspection: Transporting wide fixture sets, surface plates, and calibration equipment between machines and inspection stations in a mobile cart where the 36" drawer width accommodates items that wouldn't fit in narrower mobile formats.

♦ Die Shop and Toolroom Support: Moving larger dies, punches, and tooling sets to and from presses and machining centers in a heavy-duty cart that handles the weight and size of typical die shop tooling without caster failure or drawer racking.

♦ Tool Crib Dispensing: Issuing wide or bulky tooling to job locations in a secure, organized cart where the 36" drawer interior keeps large tools flat and accounted for during transport and return.
