Strong Hold Heavy Duty Counter Height Storage Cabinet

Strong Hold Counter Height Steel Storage Cabinets | Legless, Dual-Use Top
Strong Hold counter-height steel storage cabinets are designed for environments where a full-height floor cabinet is impractical, and the storage unit's top surface needs to serve a second function. At 36" or 42" tall, with no legs, these cabinets sit flush with the floor at a height that allows the top to serve as a service counter, parts staging surface, or light-duty work area without adding a separate countertop or workbench to the space.
Construction is all-welded 12-gauge steel throughout. Two shelves per model; all models ship fully assembled. The 3-point locking system secures contents in shared environments. Three widths (24", 36", 48"), three depths (18", 20", and 24"), and two heights (36" and 42") make up the eight configurations in the lineup. Shelf capacity varies by width and depth, reaching 2,200 pounds per shelf on the 36"-wide, 24"-deep models.
Selecting the Right Cabinet:
♦ Width and shelf capacity: The 24" and 36" wide models carry up to 1,900-2,200 pounds per shelf, depending on depth. The 48" wide models are rated at 1,500 pounds per shelf. The highest-capacity configuration is the 36"-wide, 24"-deep models (33-242 and 33.5-242) at 2,200 pounds per shelf.
♦ Depth: Three depths are available. The 18"-deep model (32.6-182) provides the shallowest front-to-back footprint, suited for very narrow positions or counters where standard cabinet depth would cause clearance issues. The 20"-deep models balance compact footprint with adequate interior shelf space. The 24"-deep models provide the most interior room and the highest shelf capacity ratings in the lineup.
♦ Height, 36" vs. 42": Both heights are under standard workbench height (typically 34"-36" from floor to work surface) when used under a counter. The 36" models sit below or flush with most standard counters. The 42" models stand taller and may function as the counter surface itself, or be paired with slightly elevated counter runs. Verify the installation height requirement before ordering.
♦ No legs: The legless design places the cabinet flush to the floor, eliminating the clearance gap found on legged cabinets. This provides a stable, low-vibration installation well suited to counter positions. It also means the unit cannot be moved with a forklift without special lifting equipment and cannot be cleaned beneath without moving the unit.
♦ Top surface as usable counter: The flat steel top is appropriate for tool check-in, parts staging, paperwork, and light-duty sorting operations. It is not rated for heavy impact or machining operations. For those applications, the Strong Hold Maple Top Workbench is the appropriate alternative.
♦ 3-point locking: All models include the same 3-point locking mechanism used across the Strong Hold cabinet lineup, securing the cabinet at the top, center, and bottom simultaneously.
Where Commonly Used:
♦ Tool Cribs with Counter Service: A counter-height cabinet positioned at the tool crib window serves as the issuing surface for tool check-in and check-out, with locked storage directly below the service countertop, eliminating the need for a separate counter and storage cabinet.
♦ Under-Counter Storage: Installing a lockable steel cabinet in the space below existing countertops in maintenance rooms, labs, or production areas, adding secure storage to an otherwise unused dead space.
♦ Assembly and Production Support Zones: Counter-height storage in production support areas keeps supplies, tooling, and documentation within reach of operators without the overhead obstruction of a full-height cabinet and provides a top surface for brief staging or inspection tasks.
♦ Mailrooms and Administrative Areas: Secure storage at counter height in mailrooms, reception areas, or administrative spaces where a full-height industrial cabinet would be visually out of place but a legless counter-height unit fits naturally into the counter run.
♦ Low-Ceiling and Mezzanine Installations: Areas with low overhead clearance that cannot accommodate full-height cabinets benefit from the 36" or 42" tall configurations, which provide substantial storage capacity in a format suited to restricted vertical space.
♦ Service Counters in Shared Workspaces: Any position where a counter is needed for transaction or staging work AND secure below-counter storage is required, in a single unit that ships assembled and requires no separate counter construction.
