Strong Hold Extreme Duty Storage Cabinets | Up to 2,200 Pounds Per Shelf

Strong Hold Extreme Duty storage cabinets are built from 12-gauge steel with 14-gauge adjustable shelves, 8-gauge reinforced hinges, and welded legs, a construction specification heavier than any other welded cabinet in this lineup. Shelf capacity reaches 2,200 pounds on the 36" wide models, and shelves reposition on 2" centers for precise interior layout control. The 3-point locking system uses a cast aluminum bronze alloy handle compatible with a heavy padlock, providing a higher level of physical security than standard cast handles on lighter-duty cabinets.

Three depth options are available: 24", 30", and 36". No other brand in the CustomMHS welded cabinet lineup offers 30" or 36" depth, making the Extreme Duty series the right choice when the items being stored are too deep for a 24" cabinet. Widths run from 36" to 72", heights are 66" and 78", and all models ship fully assembled.

Note: Shelf capacity varies by width-and-depth combination and is not uniform across the lineup. Review the specifications for the specific model before ordering.

Selecting the Right Cabinet:

♦ Width: Four widths are available. The 36" wide models carry the highest shelf capacity in the lineup, up to 2,200 pounds per shelf. The 48" wide models are rated at 1,500 pounds per shelf. The 60" wide models range from 1,650 to 1,950 pounds per shelf depending on depth. The 72" wide models are rated at 1,850 pounds per shelf across both depths. Wider cabinets provide more shelf surface area, but the shelf capacity rating decreases at 48" wide compared to 36" wide, based on both the lateral space required and the load per shelf.

♦ Depth, 24" vs. 30" vs. 36": The 24" depth covers the full width-and-height range and suits most applications where items fit within a standard cabinet depth. The 30" depth accommodates wider dies, larger molds, and deep fixtures that would overhang a 24" shelf. The 36" depth is the deepest welded cabinet available on the site, suited to applications where items require the full 36" of front-to-back interior space, large fixture sets, wide-format tooling, and oversize equipment that cannot be stored in any shallower configuration.

♦ Height, 66" vs. 78": The 66" models include 3 adjustable and 1 fixed shelf. The 78" models include 4 adjustable and 1 fixed shelf, providing 1 additional shelf position for more organized vertical storage within the same footprint.

♦ Shelf capacity by model: Verify the specific capacity for the width and depth combination being considered. The 36" wide models at 24", 30," and 36" depths carry 2,200 pounds per shelf. The 48" wide models at all depths carry 1,500 pounds per shelf. The 60" wide 24" deep models carry 1,950 pounds per shelf; the 30" deep carry 1,650 pounds; the 36" deep carry 1,950 pounds. The 72" wide models at all depths carry 1,850 pounds per shelf.

♦ 2" shelf adjustment centers: More precise than the 4" centers on the Pucel Super Heavy Duty series, allowing shelves to be positioned at the exact height needed for the items being stored rather than rounding to the nearest 4" increment.

♦ 8-gauge hinges: Heavier than standard industrial cabinet hinges, designed to resist door sag under repeated heavy use and maintain alignment over the service life of the cabinet without adjustment.

♦ Cast aluminum bronze alloy handle with padlock compatibility: The integrated 3-point locking handle is built from a harder alloy than typical cast handles and accepts a heavy padlock for additional security beyond the built-in locking mechanism.

♦ Welded legs: Provide stable floor contact and allow the cabinet to be repositioned without losing structural integrity, unlike cabinets with fixed bases that can deform when moved.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Die and Deep Tooling Storage: The 30" and 36" depth options are specifically suited to storing large dies, mold sets, and deep fixtures that extend beyond the front-to-back interior of a standard 24" cabinet. At up to 2,200 pounds per shelf on the 36" wide models, the Extreme Duty series handles individual die weights that most other cabinets in this lineup cannot support.

♦ Press Rooms and Stamping Operations: Organizing and securing complete sets of dies, punches, and associated tooling in a locked, high-capacity cabinet directly accessible to the press operators, with the depth to accommodate the full die set without hanging over the shelf edge.

♦ Toolroom and Fixture Storage: Storing precision fixtures, large gauges, and specialty tooling in a maximum-rated locked cabinet where structural integrity, door alignment, and locking reliability are expected to hold up through years of daily use.

♦ Maintenance and Heavy MRO: A single locked cabinet for the heaviest maintenance tools, hydraulic equipment, large wrenches, and bulky spare parts in a facility where lighter-rated cabinets have failed or deformed under load.

♦ Aerospace, Defense, and Industrial Manufacturing: Applications where physical security of tooling is a compliance or accountability requirement, and where the combination of a cast bronze alloy locking handle, padlock compatibility, 3-point engagement, and heavy-gauge construction provides a higher level of access control than standard industrial cabinets.

♦ Multi-Shift Facilities Requiring Asset Control: The padlock-compatible 3-point locking system and heavy-gauge construction support long-term security and accountability in shared facilities where multiple shifts access the same storage and where cabinet integrity under continuous heavy use is a baseline requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What makes Strong Hold Extreme Duty Storage Cabinets different from standard heavy duty cabinets?
These cabinets are built from rugged 12 gauge steel with reinforced components designed for maximum strength. Each adjustable 14 gauge shelf supports up to 2,200 pounds, which exceeds the capacity of most standard heavy duty cabinets. Reinforced 8 gauge hinges and welded legs add long term structural stability. This level of construction is intended for environments where lighter cabinets routinely fail.
How does high shelf capacity improve safety and organization?
When shelves cannot handle the load, they sag or deform, creating unsafe and disorganized storage. High capacity shelving allows teams to store heavy tools, dies, fixtures, and equipment without worrying about structural failure. Adjustable shelves reposition in 2 inch increments, making it easier to customize storage layouts. Properly supported equipment stays organized and accessible at the point of use.
How does the locking system improve security and accountability?
The cabinet includes a heavy duty 3 point locking system integrated into a cast aluminum bronze alloy handle. It is compatible with heavy padlocks for added protection in shared environments. This design helps prevent unauthorized access, tampering, or loss of valuable equipment. Strong access control supports accountability across shifts and departments.
Why do reinforced hinges and welded legs matter in daily use?
In industrial settings, cabinet doors are opened constantly and often bumped by traffic. Reinforced hinges help prevent door sag and maintain alignment over years of use. Welded legs provide stable support and make repositioning easier when facility layouts change. These features extend service life and maintain reliable operation.
How does fully assembled shipping benefit operations?
Because the cabinet ships fully assembled, it can be placed into service immediately. There is no time lost to complicated setup or structural adjustments. This allows facilities to standardize heavy-duty storage quickly and with minimal disruption. The result is safer storage, stronger asset control, and long-term reliability in demanding workspaces.
Is the manufacturer’s warranty included with my purchase?
Yes. All products sold on CustomMHS.com include the original manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise noted. Custom MHS is an authorized dealer for the brands we carry, which means your purchase is covered by the manufacturer's full factory warranty.
Do you offer bulk pricing or discounts on large orders?
