Strong Hold Maple Top Cabinet Workbench

Strong Hold Maple Top Cabinet Workbenches | Solid Maple Top, Lockable Storage Base | CustomMHS
Strong Hold Maple Top Cabinet Workbenches combine a solid maple work surface with a lockable 12-gauge steel storage base in a single floor-standing unit. The workbench height is 37" across all models, the depth is 36" (substantially deeper than the 24" standard on the Strong Hold cabinet lineup), and widths range from 48" to 84".
The storage base uses bi-fold doors on all models, which fold back on themselves when opened rather than swinging into the aisle, an important feature in tight shop layouts where a full door swing is impractical. A single adjustable shelf runs the full width on the 48", 60", and 72" models. The 84"-wide model uses a double-shift configuration with dual locking doors and two shelf sections to maintain structural strength across the wider span. The legless design keeps the base flush to the floor for stability, without the clearance gap of a legged cabinet.

Selecting the Right Model:
♦ Width: Four widths are available. The 48" and 60" models are sized for single-person work positions or tight bays. The 72" model provides a longer work surface for assembly, layout, or multi-step tasks. The 84" model is the largest in the lineup and uses a dual-door, dual-shelf configuration that differs structurally from the narrower models.
♦ 84" double-shift configuration: At 84" wide, the base is divided into two locked sections with separate bi-fold doors and individual shelves, each rated at 1,200 pounds. Buyers should be aware that the interior is divided at the center, not a single open compartment, which affects how tools and supplies can be arranged inside.
♦ 36" depth: All models are 36" deep, which is 12" deeper than the standard 24" cabinet depth in this lineup. This provides a much larger work surface and substantial shelf depth inside the base, but requires more front-to-back floor clearance at the installation location. Verify aisle clearance and available wall depth before ordering.
♦ Bi-fold doors: Doors fold at the center and retract to each side when opened, extending less than half the door width into the work area. This is the appropriate selection when a swing door would obstruct aisle traffic, conflict with adjacent equipment, or interfere with other workers in a shared space.
♦ Legless floor-flush design: The base sits directly on the floor with no legs. This provides a stable, low-vibration platform well-suited to assembly and precision work. It also means the unit cannot be moved with a forklift or pallet jack without special lifting attachments, and floor cleaning beneath the cabinet requires tilting or moving the unit.
♦ Solid maple work surface: Maple is a standard industrial workbench top material valued for its hardness, impact resistance, and resistance to surface damage from tools and parts. It is preferable to metal tops for applications involving delicate or finished components and quieter working environments. It also provides a better reference surface for layout work than standard steel tops.
Where Commonly Used:
♦ Maintenance and Repair Stations: A workbench with locked storage underneath replaces a separate bench and a separate cabinet in maintenance areas, keeping the most-used tools immediately below the work surface and reducing the steps between tool retrieval and task completion.
♦ Assembly and Sub-Assembly Workstations: The solid maple top provides an impact-resistant, part-friendly surface for assembly operations, with locked cabinet storage below for fixtures, small components, and kits that need to be secured when the station is unattended.
♦ Tool and Die Shops: A deep 36" work surface accommodates larger parts, fixtures, and tooling laid out flat for inspection, fitting, or modification, with locked base storage for dies, inserts, and program documentation secured below.
♦ Quality Control and Inspection: The maple top provides a stable, non-marring work surface for inspecting finished parts, using hand gauges, and performing layout work where the bench surface needs to be clean, flat, and consistent.
♦ Tight Aisles and Cell Environments: The bi-fold doors are the primary feature that makes this workbench appropriate for lean manufacturing cells, U-shaped work areas, and other configurations where a standard swing door would block adjacent workers or equipment.
