The distinction has practical consequences: the MMLA contains no hydraulic fluid, eliminating the risk of oil leaks and the vertical drift that can occur in hydraulic systems when a load is held at height for extended periods. Once the platform is raised to the desired position, it stays fixed at that height until the operator adjusts it, making the MMLA suited for assembly operations where a consistent load height must be maintained without creep over time.

Lifting and lowering is controlled via a handheld up/down pendant on a coiled cord. The operation is quiet, described by Lift Products as similar to a powered car window.
