Vestil ETS Self-Elevating Spring Table Cart | Adjustable Counterbalance Springs

The Vestil ETS Self-Elevating Spring Table Cart uses an internal counterbalance spring mechanism to automatically maintain the platform at a consistent ergonomic working height as weight is added or removed. The counterbalance springs are adjustable, allowing the weight-to-height sensitivity to be tuned to the application's specific load range. No pumping, foot-pedal operation, or button-pressing is required; the platform adjusts passively during every load and unload cycle.

Four models are available in three square platform sizes and four capacity tiers. The ETS-230 and ETS-460 use a 20" x 20" platform with an 11" to 33" service range. The ETS-1120-24 uses a 24" x 24" platform with a 15" to 38" service range. The ETS-840-30 uses the largest platform (30" x 30") with the same 15" to 38" service range.

Models and Specifications:

♦ ETS-230, 20" W, 20" L platform. Service range 11" to 33". Capacity 230 lbs. Adjustable counterbalance springs. Square compact platform.

♦ ETS-460, 20" W, 20" L platform. Service range 11" to 33". Capacity 460 lbs. Adjustable counterbalance springs. Same platform as ETS-230, with greater capacity.

♦ ETS-1120-24, 24" W, 24" L platform. Service range 15" to 38". Capacity 1,120 lbs. Adjustable counterbalance springs. The highest capacity model in the ETS lineup, despite the intermediate platform size.

♦ ETS-840-30, 30" W, 30" L platform. Service range 15" to 38". Capacity 840 lbs. Adjustable counterbalance springs. The largest platform in the lineup has a lower capacity than the ETS-1120-24. Choose when a larger load surface is needed, and an 840 lb capacity is adequate.

Selecting the Right Model:

♦ Capacity, 230 lb, 460 lb, 840 lb, or 1,120 lb, select a model with a rated capacity at or above the maximum expected load weight. The ETS-1120-24 provides the highest capacity (1,120 lb) in the lineup. The ETS-840-30 provides the largest platform at a lower capacity (840 lb).

♦ Platform size, 20"x20" for smaller carton and tote footprints. 24"x24" for mid-size loads. 30" x30" for larger loads or when load surface stability over a wider footprint is needed. All platforms are square, which suits square pallet loads, carton stacks, or bins better than a narrow rectangular platform would.

♦ Service range, ETS-230 and ETS-460 operate from 11" to 33". ETS-1120-24 and ETS-840-30 operate from 15" to 38". The upper range is higher on the larger-capacity/larger-platform models, providing slightly more vertical travel at the high end.

♦ Counterbalance spring adjustment: the springs must be calibrated to the actual operating load range for the self-leveling function to work correctly. A unit with springs set for 1,000-lb loads will not level properly when used with 200-lb loads. Verify spring adjustment before putting the cart into service, and recalibrate when the application load range changes significantly.

♦ Spring Table Cart vs. Auto-Hite and Self-Elevating Cart, the ETS Spring Table Cart uses counterbalance springs and a square platform, suited for compact load footprints where the square shape matches the load better than a rectangular platform. The Auto-Hite (SCSC-series) offers larger rectangular platforms and capacities up to 2,000 lb. The Self-Elevating Lift Cart (SCSC-400/800) offers lower capacity and poly-on-poly casters at a simpler specification. Choose the ETS when the square platform geometry and the ETS capacity range match the application.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Packing Stations with Carton Stacking, packing operations where cartons are stacked on the platform and removed one at a time, use the ETS to keep the top carton at a consistent reach height automatically throughout the pack cycle, without operator adjustment.

♦ Assembly Line Parts Trays and Bins, assembly operations staging parts trays, component bins, or kitting containers in the 230 to 1,120 lb range at the assembly position, use the ETS to maintain consistent access height as parts are consumed from the bin.

♦ Print and Paper Handling, print shop and document handling operations where paper reams or print media are loaded and consumed throughout the shift, use the compact 20"x20" ETS models to keep the paper stack at a consistent feed height.

♦ Warehouse Staging and Short-Duration Pick Stations, warehouse staging areas where loads are temporarily positioned and items are picked for order fulfillment use the ETS as a mobile ergonomic staging surface that automatically adjusts to the remaining load height as picking progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Vestil self-elevating spring table cart, and how does it work?
A Vestil self-elevating spring table cart is an ergonomic load-leveling platform that automatically adjusts its height as weight changes. The internal spring mechanism raises the surface as items are removed and lowers it as items are added. This keeps materials positioned at a comfortable working level throughout the task. It is a simple way to improve efficiency while reducing physical strain.
Why is a load-leveling platform important for workplace ergonomics?
A load-leveling platform helps prevent workers from constantly bending or reaching as the load height changes. Keeping materials at waist height improves posture and reduces fatigue during repetitive handling. This can lower the risk of back and shoulder strain over time. Better ergonomics also lead to smoother daily operations and more consistent productivity.
Where are self-elevating spring table carts most commonly used?
These carts are widely used in packaging areas, assembly lines, warehouses, and shipping departments. They are especially helpful when parts or boxes are frequently loaded and unloaded throughout the day. Because the cart is mobile, it can move between stations easily. This flexibility makes it a valuable tool across many industrial environments.
How does this cart improve efficiency in material handling workflows?
By automatically maintaining an ideal working height, the cart reduces time wasted on repositioning loads or adjusting equipment. Workers can focus on the task rather than interrupt it to manage height changes. This results in shorter handling cycles and less physical effort per load. Over time, small efficiency gains like this add up to major workflow improvements.
What should buyers consider when choosing the right spring table cart?
It is important to match the cart’s capacity range to the typical loads your team handles. Platform size should also fit the materials being staged or transported. Mobility features such as durable casters and reliable braking systems are essential for safe use. Selecting the right configuration ensures long-term performance and maximum ergonomic benefit.
