MECO Heavy Duty Roll-Out Die Rack for Tool, Die, and Mold Storage

MECO Heavy Duty Roll-Out Die Rack

MECO Heavy Duty Roll-Out Die Rack – Tool, Die & Mold Storage Shelving with Roll-Out Trays (Starter & Add-On Units)

MECO heavy-duty roll-out die racks are built for organized, front-facing storage of dies, molds, fixtures, jigs, and heavy tooling components. Each unit uses roll-out trays that slide forward to bring stored loads directly to the operator, eliminating the need to reach into a fixed shelf or reposition loads from the back. This reduces handling time during changeovers, lowers the risk of damage to high-value tooling, and improves ergonomics for workers moving heavy items with forklifts or hoists.

The system is modular: start with a starter unit, then extend the row with add-on units as tooling inventory grows. Three shelf widths (36" and 48"), two shelf depths (36" and 48"), and three rack heights (62", 72", and 85") combine across 3-shelf and 4-shelf configurations to produce 18 models. All units have 3 or 4 roll-out shelf levels.

Selecting the Right Configuration:

Shelf width (36" or 48") is determined by the widest die or tooling component that needs to be stored on a single shelf level. Allow clearance on each side for safe forklift entry and exit during retrieval.

Shelf depth (36" or 48") is determined by the deepest tooling component. The 48"-deep shelf accommodates larger dies and molds that would overhang a 36" shelf.

Rack height (62", 72", or 85") is determined by ceiling height, available aisle clearance above the rack, and the number of shelf levels needed. The 85" height adds a fourth shelf level for higher tooling inventory volumes.

Use a starter unit to begin each row. Use add-on units to extend the row. Starter and add-on units of the same model series share uprights at the joint between bays, keeping the row continuous and minimizing total footprint.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Stamping and Press Operations: Storage of progressive, blanking, and draw dies near presses for rapid retrieval during scheduled and unscheduled die changes, reducing press downtime between production runs.

♦ Injection Molding Facilities: Organized storage of injection molds, insert molds, and tooling components with front-facing access, allowing mold-handling equipment to engage the load without repositioning the rack.

♦ Automotive and Tier Supplier Toolrooms: Toolrooms managing large inventories of dedicated dies, fixtures, and gauges that require identified shelf positions, clear access, and protection from floor storage hazards.

♦ Maintenance and MRO Departments: Facilities storing specialty fixtures, jigs, and heavy service tooling that are used infrequently but must be retrievable quickly without moving surrounding items.

♦ Die Staging Areas: Pre-production staging of dies and molds near the production floor where fast access and organized positioning reduce setup time and prevent last-minute handling delays.

♦ Contract Manufacturers with Mixed Tooling: Operations managing tooling for multiple customers or products that require labeled, separated shelf positions with individual access, rather than stacked or floor-blocked storage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the MECO heavy duty roll-out die rack designed for?
The MECO heavy-duty roll-out die rack is designed to store large industrial tools, dies, molds, and heavy equipment. It provides a secure shelving system that makes organizing bulky items much easier. The roll-out tray design allows workers to access stored loads without reaching deep or performing unsafe lifts. This makes it an efficient storage solution for demanding industrial facilities.
How do roll-out trays improve access to heavy tooling?
Roll-out trays allow stored dies and molds to slide outward for direct access. This eliminates the need to pull heavy loads from the back of a shelf, which can be difficult and dangerous. Easier access helps speed up tool changes and daily workflow. It also reduces the chance of damaging valuable equipment during handling.
What is the difference between starter units and add-on units?
Starter units are complete standalone racks, while add-on units are designed to connect to existing starter units to expand your storage system more efficiently.
What makes MECO die racks a good choice for industrial storage environments?
MECO die racks are built with heavy-duty construction meant for long-term use in tough facilities. They support organized storage while maximizing floor and rack space. The system is designed to handle the daily demands of manufacturing operations where tooling is frequently moved and accessed. This durability makes it a dependable investment for industrial storage needs.
Where are MECO roll-out die racks commonly used?
These racks are widely used in stamping plants, injection molding shops, automotive manufacturing, maintenance departments, and tool rooms. Any operation that manages heavy dies or molds benefits from safer access and better organization. They are especially useful in facilities where space efficiency and quick retrieval matter. Their design supports productivity across many industries.
How do roll-out die racks help improve workplace safety?
Storing heavy dies improperly can increase the risk of strain injuries and accidents. Roll-out trays reduce awkward lifting by bringing tooling directly to the worker. This improves ergonomics and lowers the likelihood of workplace injuries. Safer handling also helps protect both employees and high-value tooling assets.
Is the manufacturer’s warranty included with my purchase?
Yes. All products sold on CustomMHS.com include the original manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise noted. Custom MHS is an authorized dealer for the brands we carry, which means your purchase is covered by the manufacturer's full factory warranty.
