MECO Modular U-Racks – Portable, Stackable Bar Stock & Pipe Storage (Interlocking Steel Frames)

MECO modular U-racks are portable, stackable steel frames for storing and staging bar stock, pipe, tubing, angle iron, channel, and other long materials. Each unit is sized for one-person handling and requires no tools or setup time. Position the rack where it is needed and load immediately. Interlocking frame geometry keeps stacked units aligned and stable, allowing vertical stacking when floor space is limited or when consolidating material for storage between production runs.

Two models are available: the UR6 at 3,000 lb per unit (6,000 lb per stacked column) and the higher-capacity UR10 at 6,000 lb per unit (10,000 lb per stacked column). Both units share a 4" deep x 25" wide footprint.

♦ UR10 -- 4" deep x 25" wide x 19" tall -- 6,000 lb per unit -- 10,000 lb per stacked column

Units are priced individually. Order multiples to build up storage columns or to create multiple staging positions along a line.

Selecting the Right Model:

Both models use the same footprint. Selection is based on the weight of the material bundle or load each rack will support. For lighter stock, small-diameter bar, thin-walled tubing, and aluminum extrusions, the UR6 is sufficient. For heavier-stock large-diameter pipe, thick-wall tubing, heavy bar, or dense bundled material, the UR10 provides higher per-unit and per-column capacity.

When stacking, use units of the same model for consistent interlocking alignment. Do not exceed the stated per-column capacity for stacked configurations.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Metal Service Centers and Steel Distributors: Flexible staging and storage of bar stock, pipe, and tube inventory by grade, size, or customer order without committing to fixed cantilever rack positions.

♦ Fabrication and Machine Shop Floors: Adjacent-to-machine staging of raw bar stock and tube ready for cutting, turning, or other first operations, repositioned as needed to follow the work cell layout.

♦ Receiving and Inbound Staging: Temporary holding of inbound long material at the dock while material is being checked in, sorted by size, or awaiting putaway to primary storage locations.

♦ Outbound and Cut-to-Length Staging: Staging of cut material, finished bar, or pipe sections near shipping or packaging areas, organized by order or job without using permanent rack positions.

♦ Overflow and Seasonal Storage: Supplemental storage for periods of high inventory volume when primary cantilever rack or pipe rack positions are full, using stackable U-racks to build vertical columns in available floor space.

♦ Maintenance and Utilities: Storage of spare pipe, conduit, and structural steel sections in maintenance shops and utilities facilities where long material is used infrequently and fixed rack installation is not practical.
