MECO Modular Stackable Welded Steel Storage Racks

MECO Modular, Stackable Welded Steel Storage Racks
MECO modular stackable welded steel storage racks are fully assembled, portable frames for storing bar stock, pipe, tubing, angle iron, channel, molding, specialty lumber, and other long or irregularly shaped materials. Each rack ships ready to use with no setup or tools required. Units are designed to be stacked up to four high to maximize vertical storage density when floor space is limited, and can be repositioned as workflow or inventory needs change.
Four capacity tiers are available (2,500 lb, 3,750 lb, 5,600 lb, and 7,500 lb per section), each in single-section and multi-section configurations from 1 to 5 sections per unit. This produces 20 models across the SSR single-section and SSM multi-section series. All units are finished in high-visibility orange enamel.
An important stacking note: total stack capacity does not multiply by height. A stacked column of four SSR1 units is still limited to 2,500 lb total -- the capacity of a single unit. Plan loads accordingly.
Decoding the Model Number:
SSR models are single-section units. The number following SSR indicates the capacity tier (1 = 2,500 lb, 2 = 3,750 lb, 3 = 5,600 lb, 4 = 7,500 lb).
SSM models are multi-section units. The first number indicates the capacity tier (same scale as SSR); the number after the hyphen indicates the number of sections (2 through 5). Example: SSM3-4 is a 4-section unit in the 5,600-lb-per-section tier.
Models and Specifications:
SSR single-section units:
♦ SSR1: 1 section -- 16" long x 12" wide x 13" high -- 2,500 lb per section
♦ SSR2: 1 section -- 19" long x 14" wide x 17" high -- 3,750 lb per section
♦ SSR3: 1 section -- 22" long x 15" wide x 20" high -- 5,600 lb per section
♦ SSR4: 1 section -- 26" long x 16" wide x 23" high -- 7,500 lb per section
SSM multi-section units (2,500 lb tier):
♦ SSM1-2: 2 sections -- 30" long x 12" wide x 13" high
♦ SSM1-3: 3 sections -- 44" long x 12" wide x 13" high
♦ SSM1-4: 4 sections -- 58" long x 12" wide x 13" high
♦ SSM1-5: 5 sections -- 72" long x 12" wide x 13" high
SSM multi-section units (3,750 lb tier):
♦ SSM2-2: 2 sections -- 36" long x 14" wide x 17" high
♦ SSM2-3: 3 sections -- 53" long x 14" wide x 17" high
♦ SSM2-4: 4 sections -- 70" long x 14" wide x 17" high
♦ SSM2-5: 5 sections -- 87" long x 14" wide x 17" high
SSM multi-section units (5,600 lb tier):
♦ SSM3-2: 2 sections -- 42" long x 15" wide x 20" high
♦ SSM3-3: 3 sections -- 62" long x 15" wide x 20" high
♦ SSM3-4: 4 sections -- 82" long x 15" wide x 20" high
♦ SSM3-5: 5 sections -- 102" long x 15" wide x 20" high
SSM multi-section units (7,500 lb tier):
♦ SSM4-2: 2 sections -- 50" long x 16" wide x 23" high
♦ SSM4-3: 3 sections -- 74" long x 16" wide x 23" high
♦ SSM4-4: 4 sections -- 98" long x 16" wide x 23" high
♦ SSM4-5: 5 sections -- 122" long x 16" wide x 23" high
Selecting the Right Configuration:
♦ Capacity tier: Select based on the maximum weight of the material bundle or load each rack section must support. The tiers step up in both capacity and physical size -- a higher-tier rack is wider and taller than a lower-tier rack of the same section count. Confirm that the physical dimensions of the selected tier accommodate the diameter or cross-section of the material being stored.
♦ Section count: Single-section SSR units are suited for small inventories, individual staging positions, or applications where racks are moved frequently. Multi-section SSM units store more material in a single footprint and are better suited for larger inventories or longer material that benefits from multiple support points along its length. For very long stock, a multi-section unit provides better mid-span support than multiple single-section racks spaced apart.
♦ Stacking: All four capacity tiers stack up to 4 units high. When stacking, use units of the same model for consistent alignment. Never exceed the single-unit capacity for the full stack -- stacking does not increase load rating.
Where Commonly Used:
♦ Metal Service Centers and Steel Distributors: Portable storage and staging of bar stock, pipe, and tube inventory by size, grade, or alloy in a configuration that can be repositioned to follow changing cut-to-length workflow patterns.
♦ Fabrication and Job Shop Floors: Adjacent-to-saw or adjacent-to-machine staging of raw material ready for first operations, moved as needed to follow the cell or support multiple workstations without fixed rack installation.
♦ Receiving and Inbound Long Material Staging: Temporary holding of inbound bar, pipe, and structural material at the dock while being checked in and sorted before putaway to primary storage.
♦ Lumber and Millwork Yards: Storage of specialty lumber, molding, trim stock, and dimensional wood in a portable, stackable rack that can be relocated seasonally or repositioned as product mix changes.
♦ Overflow and Surge Storage: Supplemental capacity during high-volume periods when primary cantilever rack or pipe rack positions are at capacity, using stackable SSM units to build organized, temporary vertical storage in available floor space.
♦ Outbound and Order Staging: Staging of cut-to-length or fabricated long stock organized by job, customer, or ship date near the shipping dock, using portable racks that can be cleared and reloaded between production cycles.
