MECO Structural Load Beams for Pallet Rack Structural Channel Uprights

MECO structural load beams are heavy-duty, bolt-on beams designed for use with MECO structural channel upright frames. Each beam connects to the upright using two high-strength bolts, creating a rigid joint that resists sway in active forklift environments. Beam brackets allow 2-inch vertical adjustment to fine-tune shelf heights as pallet profiles and inventory requirements change.

All capacities are rated as a uniformly distributed load (UDL) across a pair of beams, per AISC and RMI standards. Always verify that the upright frame rating supports the intended bay capacity, as the upright rating governs the overall bay limit.

Three channel sizes (3", 4", and 5") are available across eleven beam lengths (48" through 144"), producing 33 models. Price is per pair of beams.

Selecting the Right Beam:

Beam length is determined by the number of pallets stored side by side and the clearance required for forklift placement. For two pallets wide, add at least 10" to the combined pallet width. For three pallets wide, add at least 14" to the combined pallet width. Standard GMA pallet widths are 48", so a two-pallet-wide bay typically uses a 108" or 120" beam depending on clearance preference.

Channel size determines load capacity. For a given beam length, the 3-inch channel carries the lowest capacity per pair and the 5-inch channel carries the highest. Select the channel size whose per-pair capacity meets or exceeds the maximum anticipated pallet load for that bay level. Always confirm the upright frame rating is not the limiting factor before finalizing beam selection.
