MECO Structural Upright Protectors, Forklift Impact Guards for Rack Frame Legs

MECO structural upright protectors are heavy-duty steel guards designed to shield the lower section of pallet rack upright frames from forklift impact. Each protector anchors around the frame leg and is installed offset from the upright so that forklift contact hits the protector first, absorbing the blow before it reaches the rack steel, base plate, or floor anchor. This offset installation is what separates a functional upright protector from one that simply transfers the impact force directly to the upright.

Available for 3-inch and 4-inch structural channel uprights in three heights (12", 18", and 24"). Six models total. Price is per protector.

Selecting the Right Upright Protector:

Match the protector's channel size to the upright channel size in your existing rack -- SPP3 series for 3-inch uprights, SPP4 series for 4-inch uprights.

Height selection depends on where forklift contact typically occurs in your aisles. The 12" height covers the base plate and lower frame area against low-mast contact and pallet jack bumps. The 18" and 24" heights provide additional coverage for taller fork and mast contact zones in higher-traffic forklift aisles. End-of-row uprights and aisle-end corner positions are the highest-priority locations for protector installation.

♦ Selective Pallet Rack End Uprights: Aisle-end and corner upright positions where forklifts turn, approach, and reverse, creating the highest frequency of incidental contact with rack frames.

♦ High-Traffic Forklift Aisles: Interior upright positions in busy receiving, shipping, and replenishment aisles where repeated near-miss and glancing contact from lift truck masts and forks accumulate damage over time.

♦ Narrow Aisle and Tight Clearance Environments: Rack rows with reduced aisle widths where operating clearance between forklifts and uprights is minimal, and impact risk is elevated.

♦ Base Plate and Anchor Protection: Any upright position where the floor anchor and base plate are exposed to contact and at risk of shearing or loosening, compromising the rack's load path to the floor.

♦ Rack Maintenance Reduction: Facilities looking to reduce the frequency of upright replacement, re-anchoring, and rack repair inspections in active storage areas.

♦ New Rack Installations: Proactive installation at impact-prone positions when commissioning new structural pallet rack systems, before damage occurs.
