Little Giant Visible Contents Tool Storage Cabinet

Little Giant Visible Contents Tool Storage Cabinets | Pegboard or Louvered Panel, Mesh Doors
Little Giant visible contents tool storage cabinets add a 48"-high pegboard or louvered panel to the interior of the all-welded diamond mesh security cabinet format, creating a locked, visible tool organization station within a single unit. The 16-gauge steel panel mounts in the upper portion of the 72" interior height and accepts standard pegboard hooks and bins for hanging tools, small parts, and supplies in the same organized layout used in lean manufacturing and 5S programs. A fixed center shelf below the panel provides a storage zone for larger items that don't hang on hooks. The 13-gauge mesh doors open 270 degrees and lock with a padlockable slide latch.
The panel type, pegboard or louvered, is selected at the order. Both accept standard hooks and most bins. The louvered panel uses horizontal slots rather than holes, which some facilities prefer for compatibility with louvered bin systems already in use. Pricing between the two panel types is essentially identical across all size combinations.
Selecting the Right Cabinet:
♦ Pegboard vs. louvered panel: Pegboard panels use the standard 1/4" hole grid and accept most commonly available pegboard hooks, baskets, and bins. Louvered panels feature horizontal slats and accommodate louvered hooks and bin systems. Choose based on the hook and bin inventory already in use at your facility. If your facility uses louvered bin rails on workbenches or shadow boards, the louvered panel maintains compatibility with the same accessories. If your facility uses standard pegboard hooks, the pegboard panel uses the same accessories without requiring new hardware.
♦ Width, 24" vs. 30", the 24"-wide models provide a narrower panel and shelf, suited to tighter positions or single-user tool stations. The 30"-wide models provide more panel area for organizing a larger tool set and a wider shelf below for bulkier items.
♦ Length, 48" vs. 60": The length is the front-to-back dimension of the cabinet. A longer cabinet provides more depth but does not change the panel width or the number of hooks that can fit across the panel. For tool organization, the panel width (determined by cabinet width) governs how many tools can be hung side by side. Length governs how far the cabinet extends into the room and how deep the shelf below the panel can be.
♦ Panel height relative to cabinet height: the panel occupies the upper 48" of the 72" interior. The lower section, below the fixed shelf, provides open storage for items that don't hang on hooks, toolboxes, larger equipment, containers, or floor-stored items. The shelf sits between the panel section and the open lower zone.
♦ Compared to standard SLN/SL mesh cabinets, the standard SLN/SL series provides shelves throughout the full height with no panel component. This tool storage cabinet trades multiple shelves for a single large panel surface suited to hook-organized tool layouts. Choose the tool storage cabinet when hanging organization by tool silhouette or category is the priority. Choose the standard shelved series for flat-shelf storage throughout the full height.
♦ 5S and lean manufacturing applications, the panel-and-hook interior directly supports 5S tool shadowing and lean workstation setup, with the mesh doors allowing tool presence to be confirmed visually without opening the cabinet. Locks prevent unauthorized tool removal between shifts while preserving the visual accountability structure.
Where Commonly Used:
♦ Lean Manufacturing and 5S Tool Stations: production environments running 5S programs use this cabinet to create a locked shadow-board-style tool station at each workstation or cell, where tools hang in designated positions that can be audited visually at any point in the shift without opening the cabinet.
♦ Skilled Trades and Maintenance Tool Cribs, maintenance technicians and skilled tradespeople who need an organized, locked cabinet where every tool has a defined hanging position on the panel and bulkier items store on the shelf below, creating a complete tool station in a single secured unit.
♦ Tool Accountability Programs with Visual Audit: Facilities that conduct shift-end tool counts benefit from the mesh door and panel layout; the count can be performed visually through the mesh without unlocking the cabinet, reducing the time required for accountability checks.
♦ Shared Tool Areas: departments where multiple users access the same set of tools between shifts use the locking mesh cabinet to ensure tools are returned to their designated panel hooks and are not removed without authorization, with the mesh providing a deterrent to casual removal even when the cabinet is closed.
♦ Mobile Tool Stations, the 4" forklift clearance allows the loaded and organized cabinet to be repositioned as a unit to a different cell, production zone, or work area without disturbing the tool layout on the panel or the items on the shelf.
