Rousseau 36x24 Modular Drawer Shelving

Rousseau Metal 36x24 Modular Drawer Shelving

Rousseau Modular Drawer Shelving | 36" Wide x 24" Deep, Six Drawer Configurations

Rousseau 36" wide x 24" deep modular drawer shelving provides six inches of additional shelf depth compared to the 36x18 series, accommodating longer parts, deeper bins, and higher per-drawer volume at the same 36" wide footprint. All drawers carry 400 pounds and extend fully on precision slides. The 24" depth suits applications where the 18"-deep drawers fill too quickly or where the stored parts require the additional front-to-back space.

Six pre-configured drawer layouts are available in both 75" and 87" heights, including a configuration with 8" drawers, the only configuration across the Rousseau modular drawer shelving lineup listed with 8" drawer height. Starter units begin a row or stand alone. Add-on units share uprights with adjacent units, resulting in a lower per-bay cost. Custom drawer configurations not covered by the standard table are available. Call CustomMHS at 866-333-0728 for a custom quote.

Selecting the Right Configuration:

♦ 36x24 vs. 36x18, the 24" depth provides more front-to-back drawer volume and accommodates longer parts, deeper bins, and bulk quantities that would fill an 18"-deep drawer more quickly. The 24" depth also takes up more floor space from front to back. Choose 24" when drawer volume per position is the primary driver. Choose 18" when the installation position is space-constrained from front to back.

♦ Drawer height options, five drawer heights are available across the six configurations: 3", 4", 6", and 8". Shallower 3" and 4" drawers suit flat tooling, insert trays, gauges, and fine hardware. The 6" drawers accommodate taller components and fittings. The 8" drawers, available only in the R5SEE-754811 configuration (6 drawers, 75" high), suit the tallest parts in the lineup and provide the most volume per drawer position of any configuration in this table.

♦ Roll-out shelf configurations (R5SEE-754809 and R5SEE-874809), these include a mix of 3", 4", and 6" drawers alongside a roll-out shelf that slides out on its own rails, providing a flat staging surface at shelf level within the unit. This is a combination drawer and roll-out work surface, not a pure drawer unit.

♦ Height, 75" vs. 87", both heights are available for five of the six drawer configurations. The R5SEE-754811 (8" drawers) is only available in the 75" height. Choose 87" when maximum drawer count per unit is the priority. Choose 75" when clearance above the unit is a constraint.

♦ Starter vs. add-on units: Order one starter unit per row. Add-on units share uprights with adjacent units and cannot stand alone. For a single-unit installation, order only a starter unit.

♦ Custom configurations, the six pre-configured layouts represent the most common drawer height combinations. For custom drawer mixes, specialized options, or locking configurations, call CustomMHS at 866-333-0728.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Tool Rooms Storing Longer Tooling and Parts, tool rooms where part lengths exceed the capacity of 18"-deep drawers use the 36x24 configuration to store longer toolholders, bars, rods, and extended-reach tools in 400-pound-capacity drawers with full-extension slides.

♦ Maintenance Departments with Bulk Consumable Storage, maintenance departments storing bulk fasteners, fittings, and consumables in high-volume quantities per position, use the additional 24" drawer depth to hold more inventory per position, reducing the frequency of restocking at each location.

♦ Die and Mold Shops with Large Component Storage, die and mold shops storing large inserts, components, and tooling that exceeds the depth of standard drawer shelving, use the 36x24 configuration for the additional front-to-back volume needed to store bulkier items in organized, labeled drawer positions.

♦ Assembly Areas with Larger Component Sets, assembly positions staging larger sub-assemblies, hardware kits, or medium-sized components in organized drawer positions, use the 24" depth to keep the full component set in a single drawer position without needing multiple shallow drawers for the same part category.

♦ MRO Storerooms with High-Volume Part Numbers: MRO storerooms managing high-volume part numbers, where 18"-deep drawers would require more frequent replenishment, use the 24" depth to hold larger quantities per drawer, extending the time between restocking cycles and reducing the labor required to maintain inventory levels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Rousseau modular drawer shelving system used for?
A Rousseau modular drawer shelving system is designed to store tools, parts, and supplies in a clean, organized way. It combines durable steel shelving with integrated drawers so both large and small items have a dedicated place. This makes it easier to keep work areas uncluttered and efficient. It is ideal for industrial, commercial, and maintenance environments where organization matters.
How does the 36x24 size improve storage capacity and efficiency?
The deeper shelf footprint provides more room for larger items, bulk inventory, and heavier supplies. This makes it a strong option for shops or stockrooms that need more storage without expanding floor space. The added depth also improves flexibility when storing bins, equipment, or packaged parts. It helps maximize storage while keeping everything accessible.
Why is heavy-duty steel important for tool and parts storage
Heavy-duty steel construction ensures the unit can handle daily use in demanding work settings. It withstands impacts, weight loads, and long-term wear better than lighter storage materials. This durability is especially important when storing valuable tools or critical replacement parts. A strong steel system also supports safer, more dependable storage over time.
What role do drawers play in improving organization?
Drawers make it easy to separate and protect smaller tools, fasteners, and components that can get lost on open shelves. They keep items contained, sorted, and easy to retrieve during busy workdays. This reduces downtime from part searches. A drawer-based system also supports better inventory control and cleaner workspaces.
How can modular shelving adapt as storage needs grow?
Modular shelving systems allow you to start with one unit and expand later with additional sections. This makes it easier to scale storage as inventory, tools, or workspace demands increase. Instead of replacing the old cabinets, you can build on the existing system to maintain a consistent layout. It is a long-term solution that grows with your operation.
