Jamco BJ-Series narrow self-close flammable safety cabinets are the compact single-door option in the Jamco flammable cabinet lineup, designed for positions where the 34" to 59" width of the BM and BS Series is too wide for the available space. At 23" wide across all three models, the BJ-Series fits in tight maintenance bays, lab bench positions, and service areas where a standard two-door flammable cabinet cannot be installed.

The spring-loaded door closes and latches automatically after each access. The BJ-Series also includes a fusible link closure -- a thermal safety device that releases the door latch when ambient temperature reaches the link's activation point, causing the door to close even if it is being held open or propped. This provides an additional layer of fire protection beyond the standard spring-close mechanism.

Double-wall steel construction, flame-arrester vents, spill-containment sump, and 3-point locking are standard. FM-approved, OSHA- and NFPA-compliant. Three capacities available: 12, 18, and 24 gallons, all 18" deep with heights of 35", 44", and 65" respectively.

Selecting the Right Cabinet:

♦ Width, 23" narrow format, the BJ-Series is the narrowest flammable cabinet in the Jamco lineup at 23" wide. The BM and BS Series start at 34" wide. Choose the BJ-Series when the installation position cannot accommodate a 34"-wide or wider cabinet. If the position can accommodate 34" or wider, the BM or BS Series provides more capacity and shelf space per unit.

♦ Single door vs. two doors, the BJ-Series uses a single door. The BM and BS Series use two doors. A single door provides a narrower swing radius and is appropriate for the narrow 23" cabinet width. For full-width access to a wider cabinet, two doors are required. Choose a single-door when the narrow format is the primary selection criterion.

♦ Fusible link closure: the fusible link is a heat-activated safety device separate from the spring-close mechanism. When a fire raises ambient temperature to the link's activation threshold, the link releases and the door closes automatically -- even if it was being held open or propped. This feature is specifically relevant for positions where the cabinet is accessed in conditions where a fire event could occur while the door is open. ♦ Capacity, 12, 18, or 24 gallons, select based on the actual working volume of flammable liquids to be stored at the position with a reasonable margin below the cabinet's rated capacity. The BJ12 (35" tall, 1 shelf) suits the smallest storage needs. The BJ18 (44" tall, 2 shelves) provides a mid-height option. The BJ24 (65" tall, 3 shelves) provides the most shelf positions and storage volume in the narrow format.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Tight Maintenance Bays and Service Areas, service areas with limited wall space or narrow alcoves that cannot accommodate a standard-width two-door flammable cabinet, use the 23"-wide BJ-Series for compliant, secured flammable liquid storage in the available footprint.

♦ Lab Bench Positions, laboratory positions where flammable solvents and reagents need to be stored beneath or adjacent to a bench, use the compact BJ-Series to fit within the bench's footprint without obstructing workflows or reducing bench access.

♦ Under-Counter Flammable Storage, under-counter positions where height is limited use the BJ12 (35" tall) or BJ18 (44" tall) to fit within the available clearance while providing FM-approved, self-closing, spill-contained flammable storage.

♦ Satellite Storage Points with Small Working Volumes, production positions, or service bays that maintain only a small working supply of flammable materials at the point of use, with the larger inventory stored in a central flammable storage room, use the BJ12 or BJ18 for the point-of-use working supply without requiring a full-size cabinet footprint.

♦ High Fire Risk Environments with Fusible Link Requirements, facilities where flammable storage positions are subject to elevated fire risk from adjacent processes, or where safety programs specify fusible link cabinet closures, use the BJ-Series to meet that requirement in the narrow cabinet format.
