The MECO Series 1000 Cantilever Rack is a bolt-together storage system designed for long, bulky, or irregular materials that don't fit on standard pallet rack shelves. Lumber, pipe, tubing, bar stock, extrusions, and sheet goods are common applications. The open-arm design allows materials to be loaded and retrieved from the front without obstruction from vertical columns. Three upright heights (6', 8', and 10') and two configurations (single-sided and double-sided) produce 12 starter and add-on combinations.

Each unit is sold as a complete bay: a starter unit includes two uprights, the appropriate arms, and the brace set to create one self-supporting bay. Add-on units include one upright, arms, and a brace set to extend an existing row. Series 1000 components are not interchangeable with any other MECO rack series. Verify that you are ordering Series 1000 parts when expanding an existing installation.

Understanding the Series 1000 Model Structure:

Three decisions drive model selection: upright height, single vs. double-sided, and starter vs. add-on.

Height determines arm length and per-arm capacity. As upright height increases, arms get longer to maintain proportional reach, and per-arm capacity decreases due to the increased moment load on the taller upright.

♦ 6' uprights: 12" arms, 1,000 lb per arm. For shorter facilities or loads that don't require tall stack height. The highest per-arm capacity in the series.

♦ 8' uprights: 24" arms, 600 lb per arm. The most common choice for standard warehouse ceiling heights. Longer arm reach accommodates wider loads.

♦ 10' uprights: 36" arms, 400 lb per arm. For facilities with higher ceilings and loads requiring maximum arm reach. Requires a larger base and brace set (45" base, 71" brace vs. 33"/47" for 6' and 8' models).

Single-sided vs. double-sided: Single-sided units are placed against a wall or at the end of a row. Double-sided units are freestanding in open floor areas, with arms on both sides for access from either direction. Double-sided units have a wider base (54" at 6' and 8', 78" at 10') to maintain stability under bilateral loading.

Starter vs. add-on: Start every new row with a starter unit. Add add-on units to extend the row. Each add-on shares one upright with the adjacent unit, reducing the cost per bay as the row grows.
