MECO Series 4000 Heavy Duty Cantilever Rack Systems

The MECO Series 4000 is the heavy-duty tier of the MECO cantilever rack lineup, designed for facilities storing heavier loads than the Series 1000 can support. Where the Series 1000 tops out at 1,000 lb per arm, the Series 4000 starts at 2,000 lb per arm at the 8' height and steps down to 1,000 lb per arm at 12' -- still significantly more capacity per arm than the Series 1000 at comparable heights. Arms are also longer: 24" at 8', 36" at 10', and 48" at 12'. Three upright heights (8', 10', 12') and two configurations (single-sided and double-sided) produce 12 starter and add-on combinations.

Each unit is sold as a complete bay. A starter unit includes two uprights, the appropriate arms, and a brace set. Add-on units include one upright, arms, and a brace set to extend an existing row. Series 4000 components are not interchangeable with other MECO rack series. Verify you are ordering Series 4000 parts when expanding an existing installation.

Understanding the Series 4000 Model Structure:

The same three selection decisions apply as on the Series 1000: upright height, single vs. double-sided, and starter vs. add-on.

Height determines arm length and per-arm capacity:

♦ 8' uprights: 24" arms, 2,000 lb per arm. The highest per-arm capacity in the Series 4000. For heavy stock stored at standard warehouse ceiling heights. 37" single-sided base, 65" double-sided base.

♦ 10' uprights: 36" arms, 1,200 lb per arm. Longer reach for wider loads, with strong capacity for heavier industrial materials. 49" single-sided base, 82" double-sided base.

♦ 12' uprights: 48" arms, 1,000 lb per arm. Maximum arm reach in the series, for the widest or longest materials. Requires the largest base footprint: 61" single-sided, 106" double-sided. Verify ceiling clearance before ordering.

Single-sided vs. double-sided: Single-sided units are wall-mounted or end-of-row. Double-sided units are freestanding, with arms on both sides to allow aisle access from either direction. Double-sided base depths are substantially wider than single-sided to maintain stability with bilateral loading -- particularly at 12' where the double-sided base reaches 106".

Starter vs. add-on: Begin every new row with a starter unit. Extend with add-on units. Each add-on shares one upright with the adjacent unit, reducing cost per bay as the row grows.

Where the MECO Series 4000 Cantilever Rack Is Commonly Used:

♦ Steel service centers and metal distributors: Storing structural steel, angle iron, channel, I-beam, flat bar, and heavy plate at organized positions for efficient retrieval by size and grade.

♦ Heavy fabrication shops: Keeping heavy raw material stock -- thick-wall pipe, heavy tube, large extrusions -- off the floor and organized near production equipment for first-in, first-out access.

♦ Lumber and building materials: Heavy dimensional lumber, engineered beams, LVL, and glulam products require the higher per-arm capacity of the Series 4000 over lighter-duty cantilever systems.

♦ Industrial supply and distribution: Organized rack storage for heavy long-goods inventory in supply houses and distribution centers where fast retrieval and clear inventory visibility are priorities.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are MECO Series 4000 Cantilever Rack Starter and Add-On Units?
MECO Series 4000 Cantilever Rack Starter and Add-On Units are heavy-duty industrial storage systems for long and bulky materials. A starter unit creates the first complete rack bay with two uprights, straight arms, and brace sets. Add-on units connect to starter units, allowing your storage system to grow as needed. These cantilever rack units are available in 8 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft upright heights. They help facilities organize materials that do not fit well on standard shelving or pallet rack.
How does cantilever rack help improve facility organization?
Cantilever rack helps keep long materials stored in clear, designated locations. This reduces floor clutter and makes products easier to find during daily operations. Materials like pipe, tubing, lumber, conduit, and bar stock can be separated by size or type. The open-front design allows employees to access materials without having to work around front columns. A better organization can also reduce damage caused by stacking materials on the floor.
What are the key features of the MECO Series 4000 Cantilever Rack system?
The MECO Series 4000 system includes starter and add-on units for flexible rack layouts. Starter units include two uprights, straight arms, and brace sets for one complete storage bay. Add-on units allow you to extend the rack without buying another full starter section. Upright heights of 8 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft give you options for different storage areas. The system is designed for normal heavy-duty industrial storage requirements.
What materials are commonly stored on Series 4000 Cantilever Rack?
The Series 4000 Cantilever Rack is commonly used for long, bulky, or irregular materials. Typical items include lumber, pipe, tubing, conduit, bar stock, trim, panels, and structural steel. These products can be difficult to store on standard pallet racks or shelving. The cantilever design keeps the front of the rack open for easier loading and unloading. This makes it useful in warehouses, fabrication shops, supply houses, and lumber yards.
How can starter and add-on units help with future storage needs?
Starter and add-on units make it easier to build a storage system in stages. You can begin with a starter unit, then add more bays as inventory grows. This helps match the rack layout to your floor space, ceiling height, and material sizes. It also supports better use of vertical and horizontal storage space. For growing operations, this layout can improve material flow without replacing the entire system.
