MECO Series 4000 Cantilever Straight Arms for Long Material Storage

These straight cantilever arms are the load-bearing components for MECO Series 3000, 4000, and 5000 uprights. Unlike the Series 1000 and 2000 arms, which are each dedicated to their own series, these arms are cross-compatible across all three of the higher-duty MECO cantilever series. Nine lengths run from 12" to 60", the only series in the MECO catalog to extend to 54" and 60" arm lengths.

Arms adjust on 3" centers up and down the upright using a hairpin keeper that does not require tools. Capacities are based on an evenly distributed load, not a point load. Arms are available with or without a retaining lip. Standard finish is gray.

One capacity tier is available per arm length (no HD or XHD variants as on the Series 2000 page). Series 3000/4000/5000 arms are not interchangeable with Series 1000 or 2000 arms.

Choosing the Right Arm Length and Capacity:

The standard pitch on arms up to 48" is 3/8" per foot, a slight upward incline that compensates for deflection under load, keeping the arm level in use. The 54" and 60" arms have a steeper minimum pitch of 5/8" per foot to account for the greater deflection expected at those arm lengths. Factor this into your layout planning if the pitch angle is relevant to how your load will sit on the arm.

Select arm length based on the reach needed to support the load width. Select the length whose capacity covers the weight of material per arm at each storage level.

♦ SA12: 12" long, 3,000 lb per arm.

♦ SA18: 18" long, 2,500 lb per arm.

♦ SA24: 24" long, 2,000 lb per arm.

♦ SA30: 30" long, 1,500 lb per arm.

♦ SA36: 36" long, 1,200 lb per arm.

♦ SA42: 42" long, 1,100 lb per arm.

♦ SA48: 48" long, 1,000 lb per arm.

♦ SA54: 54" long, 800 lb per arm. Steeper pitch (5/8" per foot) than shorter arms. For loads requiring the widest arm reach on a 74"/130" base.

♦ SA60: 60" long, 600 lb per arm. The longest arm available in the MECO catalog. Steeper pitch (5/8" per foot). Lowest per-arm capacity: verify that load weight does not exceed 600 lbs per arm at this length.

Where Series 4000 Straight Arms Are Commonly Used:

♦ Extra-wide sheet goods and panel storage: The 54" and 60" arms provide the reach needed to fully support wide plywood, OSB, steel plate, or composite panels that would overhang shorter arms.

♦ Large structural lumber and engineered wood: LVL beams, glulam, and wide-flange dimensional lumber stored on arms long enough to support the load width without cantilever overhang at the edges.

♦ Skid and pallet staging at full arm reach: Wide skids or non-standard pallets that exceed the reach of 48" arms benefit from the 54" and 60" options available only in the Series 4000.

♦ Expanding existing Series 3000 or 5000 systems: Buyers maintaining a Series 3000 or 5000 installation can source replacement or additional straight arms from this page. Verify the upright series before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are MECO Series 4000 Cantilever Straight Arms used for?
MECO Series 4,000 Cantilever Straight Arms support long, bulky, and stable materials on compatible cantilever rack systems. Straight arms are commonly used for lumber, steel sheets, cartons, skids, panels, and similar inventory. They create open-front storage that makes oversized products easier to place, view, and retrieve. These arms are intended for stable loads that rest securely on a straight support surface.
How do these cantilever straight arms help your facility?
These cantilever straight arms help keep long materials organized and off the floor. They support cleaner aisles, better product visibility, and more efficient material handling. Adjustable arm positions let your team match storage levels to changing inventory sizes. This helps reduce wasted rack space and keeps stored materials easier to access.
What are the key features of MECO OMAHA cantilever arms?
MECO OMAHA cantilever arms adjust up and down the upright on 3-inch centers. This allows each storage level to fit different load heights and product sizes. Arms are available in lengths from 12 inches to 60 inches. They come in multiple capacities and can be ordered with or without lips. The standard finish is gray for a clean industrial appearance.
Which uprights are compatible with these cantilever rack arms?
These cantilever rack arms are designed for MECO Series 3000, Series 4000, and Series 5000 uprights only. Compatibility matters because arm capacity depends on the complete rack system. Each arm should be matched to the correct upright and load requirement. Capacities are based on an evenly distributed load, not a concentrated point load.
What types of materials are typical for straight cantilever arms?
Straight cantilever arms are typically used for stable products that are not likely to roll forward. Common examples include lumber, sheet goods, steel sheets, boxed materials, skids, and panels. They are useful in warehouses, lumber yards, metal suppliers, and manufacturing facilities. For round or rolling materials, inclined cantilever arms are usually the better choice.
