MECO Series 4000 Heavy Duty Single-Sided Cantilever Uprights with Base

These are individual uprights and bases for the MECO Series 4000 Heavy-Duty Cantilever Rack system. Price includes the upright column and base only. Cantilever arms and brace sets are sold separately. The Series 4000 is the heaviest-duty MECO cantilever series, with arm compatibility extending to 60" in length, longer than any other MECO series, and five base length options at the lower height groups. The Series 4000 also offers a 15' height, which is not available in the Series 2000.

Single-sided uprights are used when the rack is placed against a wall or along an aisle where access from one side is needed. Thirty-seven models cover eight heights (6', 8', 10', 12', 14', 15', 16', 18', 20') and up to five base lengths per height, with the number of available base lengths decreasing at taller heights. The base length determines which arm lengths are compatible. Series 4000 uprights are compatible only with Series 4000 arms and brace sets, not interchangeable with Series 1000, 2000, or any other MECO rack series.

Choosing the Right Model:

The model number encodes the height and base length. The prefix U indicates Series 4000 single-sided. The first two digits indicate the upright height in feet (U6 = 6', U8 = 8', up to U20 = 20'). The last two digits indicate the base length in inches (31, 37, 49, 61, or 74).

Base length determines compatible arm lengths:

♦ 31" base: compatible with 12" and 18" arms. Available at 6' through 12' heights only.

♦ 37" base: compatible with 24" arms at 6' to 12', and with 12", 18", and 24" arms at 14' to 16'. Available at 6' through 16' heights only.

♦ 49" base: compatible with 30" and 36" arms at most heights; also compatible with 12", 18", and 24" arms at 18' and 20'. Available at all height groups.

♦ 61" base: compatible with 42" and 48" arms. Available at all height groups.

♦ 74" base: compatible with 54" and 60" arms. The only base in any MECO series that accommodates 54" and 60" arms. Available at all height groups.

Base availability by height group:

♦ 6' to 12': All five base lengths available (31", 37", 49", 61", 74").

♦ 14' to 16': Four base lengths available (37", 49", 61", 74"). The 31" base is not available.

♦ 18' to 20': Three base lengths available (49", 61", 74"). The 31" and 37" bases are not available.

Upright height considerations: The 15', 16', 18', and 20' uprights require forklift or lift equipment for loading and unloading at upper arm levels. Verify ceiling clearance, sprinkler head heights, and OSHA overhead clearance requirements before ordering. Note the pricing anomaly on the U874 (8', 74" base) -- verify before ordering.

To build a starter unit, order two uprights, arms, and a brace set. To extend a row, order one upright per add-on bay plus arms and a brace set.

Where Series 4000 Heavy-Duty Uprights Are Commonly Used:

♦ High-capacity steel storage: Structural steel sections, heavy plate, large-diameter pipe, and thick-wall tube in steel service centers and fabrication shops where per-arm load requirements exceed what the Series 2000 supports.

♦ Lumber and engineered wood distribution: High-bay storage of LVL beams, glulam, and heavy dimensional lumber where the 54" and 60" arm capability allows deeper storage and better load support for wide or heavy material.

♦ Heavy industrial manufacturing: Staging oversized raw material, large castings, or heavy sub-components in dedicated rack storage near production equipment where load weights and material sizes rule out lighter-duty rack series.

♦ Expansion of existing Series 4000 installations: Adding uprights to extend an active row or replace a damaged column without purchasing a full starter kit when the Series 4000 system is already in place.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the MECO Series 4000 Medium-Duty Cantilever Upright used for?
MECO Series 4000 cantilever uprights are used to store long, bulky, and irregular materials. Common materials include lumber, pipe, tubing, bar stock, trim, conduit, and sheet goods. The single-sided design works well along walls or planned storage aisles. Each upright helps create an open-front rack system with clear access to stored inventory. This makes the product useful in warehouses, shops, and industrial facilities.
How does this cantilever upright help improve facility organization?
These medium-duty cantilever uprights help move long materials off the floor and into structured storage. That can reduce clutter in aisles, work zones, and staging areas. Better organization also helps employees find and retrieve materials faster. The open design improves visibility, so inventory is easier to inspect and count. Cleaner storage areas can also support safer daily movement around the facility.
What are the key features of MECO Series 4000 cantilever uprights?
MECO Series 4000 uprights are available in heights from 6 feet to 20 feet. This range helps match storage capacity with ceiling height and available floor space. Pricing includes both the upright and base for easier project planning. The single-sided cantilever design supports efficient storage along walls or designated rack rows. These uprights are built for use with long materials that standard shelving handles poorly.
Why choose cantilever storage instead of standard shelving or pallet rack?
Standard shelving and pallet rack can be limiting for long or awkward materials. Cantilever storage uses open arms instead of front columns, which improves access. This design helps employees load and unload long items with fewer obstructions. It can also reduce unnecessary handling when materials are stored by size or type. For many facilities, cantilever rack is a more practical fit for oversized inventory.
What are typical applications for MECO Series 4000 cantilever racks?
These cantilever racks are commonly used in warehouses, fabrication shops, supply rooms, and maintenance areas. They are useful for storing pipe, tubing, lumber, conduit, metal stock, and similar materials. Facilities may use them near production lines, shipping areas, or inventory storage zones. The system helps keep materials organized while preserving floor space for equipment and traffic. It also supports future expansion as storage needs change.
