MECO Vertical Storage Rack – Heavy-Duty Sheet Material Storage Solution

MECO vertical storage racks organize large flat sheet materials, such as steel plates, sheet metal, plywood, plastic panels, composite sheets, and similar stock -- in a vertical, side-by-side configuration that keeps individual sheets separated, visible, and accessible without floor stacking or horizontal layering. Built from structural channel and 10-gauge steel with a gray enamel finish, each unit is designed for warehouse, fabrication, and metal service center environments where flat stock is handled regularly and floor space is limited.

Each bay holds up to 6,500 lb and accommodates sheets up to 12 feet long and 6 feet wide. Three configurations are available: 1-bay (VSR1), 3-bay (VSR3), and 5-bay (VSR5). Units ship knocked down and assembled with standard tools.

Models and Specifications:

♦ VSR1 -- 1 bay -- 84" wide x 40" long x 31" tall -- 6,500 lb capacity

♦ VSR3 -- 3 bays -- 84" wide x 80" long x 31" tall -- 19,500 lb capacity

♦ VSR5 -- 5 bays -- 84" wide x 120" long x 31" tall -- 32,500 lb capacity

All models: structural channel and 10-gauge steel construction, gray enamel finish, sheets up to 12' long x 6' wide per bay, knocked-down assembly.

Selecting the Right Configuration:

♦ Bay count determines total storage capacity and overall footprint. The VSR1 suits smaller operations or tight floor space that requires a single dedicated sheet storage position. The VSR3 and VSR5 provide multiple bay positions for separating sheet types, grades, thicknesses, or material types within a single rack footprint.

♦ All three models share the same 84" rack width and 31" height. Footprint depth grows by approximately 40" with each additional pair of bays. Confirm available floor depth before selecting a multi-bay configuration.

♦ Each bay accepts sheets up to 6 feet wide. Sheets longer than the rack's 40" bay depth lean against the back support structure -- confirm that the longest sheet in the inventory fits safely within the bay when loaded at the expected lean angle.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Metal Service Centers: Organized vertical storage of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel sheets, as well as other flat metal stock, by grade, gauge, or alloy, allowing individual sheets to be pulled without disturbing adjacent material.

♦ Fabrication and Stamping Shops: Floor-adjacent storage of raw sheet stock staged near press brakes, laser cutters, plasma tables, or punch presses for fast retrieval and minimal handling between storage and the machine.

♦ Woodworking and Millwork Facilities: Vertical storage of plywood sheets, MDF, OSB, melamine panels, and decorative sheet goods that would otherwise be stored in horizontal stacks requiring full unstacking to access interior sheets.

♦ Plastics and Composites Distributors: Storage of plastic sheet, acrylic, polycarbonate, fiberglass panels, and composite flat stock in a vertical position that prevents bowing, warping, and surface damage from horizontal stacking under load.

♦ Sign and Display Fabrication: Vertical panel storage for aluminum composite panels, PVC sheet, foam board, and other sign substrate materials where surface protection and individual sheet access are important for production workflow.

♦ Maintenance and Facilities Management: Storage of replacement panels, sheet metal patches, and flat-repair stock in maintenance shops, where materials are used infrequently but must be retrievable without disturbing the rest of the inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are MECO vertical storage racks used for?
MECO vertical storage racks are designed to organize and store sheet materials such as steel plate, plywood, plastic sheets, or panels in manufacturing and warehouse environments.
What are the benefits of vertical sheet storage?
Vertical storage saves floor space, improves material visibility, and allows easier access to individual sheets compared to stacking materials flat on pallets or the floor.
What types of materials can be stored in these racks?
These racks are commonly used for metal sheets, wood panels, plastic stock, composites, and other large flat materials that require organized storage.
How do I choose the right rack size and capacity?
Selection depends on sheet dimensions, weight requirements, and the number of slots or compartments needed. Always choose a rack rated above your typical load.
Are these racks suitable for heavy-duty industrial use?
Yes. MECO vertical racks are built for demanding industrial environments and designed for long-term durability and safe sheet material storage.
Is the manufacturer’s warranty included with my purchase?
Yes. All products sold on CustomMHS.com include the original manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise noted. Custom MHS is an authorized dealer for the brands we carry, which means your purchase is covered by the manufacturer's full factory warranty.
