Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What are Akro-Mils Stak-N-Store bins?
Stak-N-Store bins are heavy-duty plastic small parts bins rated at 75 pounds each, built for industrial parts that are too heavy or bulky for standard bins. Construction uses reinforced plastic with ribbing, strengthened sidewalls, and large-radius corners that resist cracking, bowing, and deformation. All three models feature a wide hopper front and comfort-grip handles. CustomMHS carries the full line of Akro-Mils bins, backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
How do these compare with 30-Series AkroBins?
The two solve different problems. The 30-Series is optimized for many individual part numbers in smaller, lighter quantities, giving more bin positions with less capacity in each. The Stak-N-Store is for larger, heavier parts where fewer positions are needed but each bin must hold real weight. Choose the 30-Series for fine small-parts organization at volume, and the Stak-N-Store for heavy components, large fasteners, and bulky parts that would overload a standard bin.
What sizes are available?
Three models. The 13014 measures 17-1/2" L x 10-7/8" W x 12-1/2" H outside, the narrowest of the three. The 13017 is 15-1/4" L x 19-7/8" W x 12-7/16" H, the widest, giving the most lateral interior space. The 13018 is 17-1/2" L x 16-1/2" W x 12-1/2" H. Inside dimensions are listed separately for each, since the wall thickness matters at this duty level.
Which dimensions should I use when selecting?
Use both, for different checks. Inside dimensions confirm the part fits with comfortable clearance for retrieval, which is what determines whether the bin actually works for your components. Outside dimensions confirm the bin fits the shelf opening, stacking footprint, or floor position. Sizing to only one of the two is how a bin ends up either too tight for the part or too large for the shelf.
Can these bins stack on the floor as well as on shelving?
Yes, both. For floor-level staging of heavy parts at production positions or receiving areas, the bins stack in columns with no shelf required. For shelf-mounted organization, confirm the shelf's load rating against the combined weight of the bins and their contents before loading, since three or four bins at 75 pounds each adds up quickly against a shelf rating.
How do Stak-N-Store bins help your facility?
The 75 pound rating is the highest per-bin capacity in the Akro-Mils line, and the reinforced construction holds its shape under that load rather than showing the sidewall bowing and floor deflection that lighter bins develop when heavily loaded. That matters in maintenance stockrooms holding cast fittings and dense hardware, and at warehouse pick locations with high-velocity heavy SKUs where bin failure would interrupt a picking shift. Hopper front access then keeps retrieval fast, since parts come out without tilting or removing the bin, and comfort-grip handles make the bins manageable when they do need to be repositioned.
