The WireCrafters Style 840 Welded Wire Medium Duty RapidWire Cage is constructed of 10-gauge wire, welded into a 2" x 2" rectangular mesh design. This welded mesh can be substituted for the heavy-duty Style 840 woven wire mesh. This open-but-secure wire partition design controls access to the property while keeping it in plain view. The wire mesh partitions allow you to view the property and stored items while keeping them safe, while using existing lighting and the free circulation of HVAC and fire suppression systems. WireCrafters wire partition systems can be custom-fit to rooms of any size or height.

Wire is 10 gauge in a 2" x 2" welded pattern, with a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" x 1/8" angle frame. All panels and posts are tagged with numbers for easy assembly. Standard 3/8" assembly hardware is the heaviest in the industry, and all necessary erection hardware, including concrete floor anchors, is included. Standard color is Gray.

2" x 2" welded wire is usually enough when:

Should I use 2" x 1" woven wire or 2" x 2" welded wire?
Use 2" x 1" woven wire when the enclosure protects high-value, portable, or controlled inventory. Woven mesh is interlocked rather than fused, so cutting a single strand does not open a hole, and the 1-inch opening blocks a hand from reaching through to a lock or to stock stored near the fence line. Use 2" x 2" welded wire when the barrier is separating space rather than securing valuables, such as walling off a storage room or a contractor area. Welded panels install quickly and cost less, but the larger opening allows reach-through and the joints depend on welds. Many facilities run welded wire on the general perimeter and build a woven wire cage inside it for the items that carry real exposure.

How does welded mesh differ from woven mesh?
Both use 10-gauge wire, so the wire thickness is identical. The difference is the pattern and how it is joined: welded mesh uses a 2" x 2" grid with welded intersections, while the heavy-duty woven version uses a tighter 2" x 1" pattern woven together. The woven construction is the more secure of the two, which is why RapidWire is positioned as medium duty and can be substituted where that level of protection is sufficient.
When is medium duty the right choice?
Match the construction to what you are protecting and who has access. Medium duty suits general inventory control, tool cribs in controlled facilities, and storage areas where the goal is limiting casual access rather than defeating a determined attempt.
