Spill Containment and Dispensing

Spill Containment & Dispensing, Drum and IBC Platforms, Pallets & Carts

Spill containment platforms and pallets capture leaks and spills from drums and IBC totes at the source, before they reach the floor. CustomMHS offers the full Little Giant lineup in low-profile, forkliftable, mobile cart, and integrated drum rack configurations, so you can match the containment setup to how the drum or tote is stored, moved, and accessed.

Selecting the Right Model:

♦ Mobility: choose a Low Profile platform for easy pallet jack loading, a Fork Liftable pallet for forklift repositioning, or a Cart for mobile spill control that moves with the drum.
♦ Container type, choose an IBC pallet specifically for tote storage, or a standard platform for drum storage.
♦ Drum count: choose a single-drum configuration for individual storage, or a larger footprint model for multi-drum containment.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Chemical and Oil and Gas Facilities, spill platforms capture leaks at the source before they reach the floor.
♦ IBC Tote Storage, dedicated containment pallets support compliant tote storage and dispensing.
♦ Mobile Drum Applications, spill control carts allow containment to move with the drum around the facility.
♦ Warehouses and Manufacturing Plants, forkliftable pallets support easy repositioning of containment setups.

CustomMHS carries the full line of Little Giant spill containment and dispensing equipment, backed by the manufacturer's warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a spill containment platform?
A spill containment platform is a raised steel deck with a sealed sump underneath, so drums and IBC totes sit above a basin that catches leaks, drips, and overflow before liquid reaches the floor. The drum stays dry and accessible on the grating while any release collects below. CustomMHS carries the full line of Little Giant spill containment and dispensing equipment, backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
What is the difference between low profile, forkliftable, and cart models?
The difference is how the platform itself gets moved and loaded. Low profile models such as the SSB-5125 sit close to the floor so a pallet jack or hand truck can load drums without a ramp. Forkliftable pallets, including the SST-5125 and SST-5151, add fork pockets, so the whole containment setup can be repositioned by forklift with the drums in place. Cart models such as the SSB-5125-6PYBK put the platform on casters, so containment travels with the drum around the facility.
When do I need an IBC containment pallet instead of a drum platform?
IBC totes have a different footprint and hold far more volume than a 55 gallon drum, so a standard drum platform is not sized for them. The Little Giant SST-IBC is built specifically for tote storage. If you dispense from the tote rather than only store it, the SST-IBC-2 combines containment with dispensing access, which matters because dispensing is when drips and overflow are most likely to occur.
What do the integrated drum rack models add?
The SST-5151-2D and SST-5125-1D combine spill containment with a rack that holds drums in position for dispensing rather than leaving them standing loose on a deck. That keeps drums stable and at a workable height for drawing product, and it keeps the containment sump directly under the point where a spill would happen. The 5125-1D handles a single drum and the 5151-2D handles two.
How does spill containment help your facility?
Containment at the source is the practical benefit, since capturing a leak in a sump is far simpler than cleaning liquid that has spread across a floor, reached a drain, or migrated into an adjacent area. That matters both for cleanup cost and for the reporting obligations that follow a release. Keeping stored chemicals and oils over containment also supports environmental compliance programs in chemical, oil and gas, and manufacturing facilities, where regulators expect secondary containment under stored liquids. On the safety side, a contained leak does not become a slip hazard on a walking surface, and mobile cart configurations mean containment does not get skipped simply because a drum had to be moved somewhere else to be used.
