Handle-It Heavy Duty Guard Rail Units for Forklift and Pedestrian Safety

Handle-It heavy duty guard rail units are pre-configured steel barriers that separate forklift and vehicle traffic from pedestrian walkways, machinery, and other protected zones. High-strength steel absorbs impact and redirects collision energy along the rail instead of transferring it to equipment, structures, or people behind the barrier. Safety yellow finish keeps the run visible in busy production areas, and base plates arrive pre-drilled for floor anchors.

The line is modular. Each run starts with a starter unit (S1 or S2) that includes two posts and the full rail assembly, then extends with add-on units (A1 or A2) that add one post and rails sharing the previous unit's post. Single and double rail heights are offered in 2' to 10' sections, for 36 total models.

How to Order a Run:
One starter unit, plus one add-on unit for every additional section. A 30' single rail run using 10' sections is one GR-10-S1 and two GR-10-A1.

Selecting the Right Configuration:
♦ Single rail (S1/A1): one rail at forklift tire and lower mast height, for boundary definition and lower-speed traffic areas.
♦ Double rail (S2/A2): two rail heights covering more of the post profile, for higher-speed traffic, heavier lift trucks, and full pedestrian protection.
♦ Section length: 2' to 4' for tight corners, machine perimeters, and confined areas; 6' to 10' for open aisle runs and dock approaches with fewer post interruptions.

Where Commonly Used:
Pedestrian aisles, loading dock approaches, machine and equipment perimeters, pallet rack aisle ends, operator workstations, and building columns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are Handle-It Heavy Duty Guard Rail Units used for?

These guard rail units are designed to protect people, equipment, and work areas in facilities where forklifts and vehicles operate. They create a clear physical barrier between moving traffic and pedestrian zones. This separation reduces the risk of accidental collisions and costly damage. They are commonly installed in production areas, dock doors, loading zones, and around machinery.

How do these guard rails improve forklift and pedestrian safety?

The system forms a visible boundary that defines safe traffic flow inside the facility. By separating vehicles from walkways and restricted areas, it lowers the chance of injury and operational disruption. The bright safety yellow finish improves awareness, even in busy or low light environments. Clear visual and physical separation is one of the most effective ways to prevent workplace incidents.

What makes these guard rail units heavy duty?

They are constructed from high strength steel designed to absorb impact from forklifts and pallet jacks. Instead of allowing a collision to damage equipment or structural elements, the rail system takes the hit and minimizes the spread of damage. This durability makes them well suited for demanding industrial settings. Over time, that strength helps reduce repair costs and downtime.

How does the modular design benefit growing facilities?

The system includes starter units and add on units that connect seamlessly for extended coverage. A starter unit includes two steel posts and your choice of single or double height rails. Add on units include one post and matching rail height to continue the run. This flexible design allows facilities to expand or reconfigure safety zones as layouts change.

Where should heavy duty guard rails be installed for maximum protection?

They are most effective in pedestrian aisles, picking areas, loading docks, and around high value machinery. Installing them near traffic intersections and high movement zones creates defined pathways for both people and equipment. This helps enforce organized traffic flow while protecting critical assets. In fast paced operations, clearly defined barriers are a practical step toward safer and more efficient workflows.

Is the manufacturer’s warranty included with my purchase?

Yes. All products sold on CustomMHS.com include the original manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise noted. Custom MHS is an authorized dealer for the brands we carry, which means your purchase is covered by the manufacturer's full factory warranty.
