What is the Rousseau 72" R-Series multi-drawer cart?
The 72" R-Series cart is the widest mobile storage unit in the R-Series lineup, built for operations where the 60" and 62" formats fall short of what the working set requires. It carries 14 drawers with 400-pound capacity each and full-extension slides, rolling on 6" polyurethane casters rated at 900 pounds apiece. What models are available?
Two, both at 72" x 24" x 41-1/2" with the same 14-drawer layout. The R5XLE-3401 includes drawer partitions and the R5XLE-3402 does not. Everything else about the two units is identical, so the decision is entirely about whether you want the drawers subdivided from the start.
Should I choose the model with or without partitions?
Choose partitions when drawers will hold multiple part numbers or tool types that need to stay separated, which is most tool crib and MRO work. Choose the version without when drawers hold single large items, fixture assemblies, or tooling that occupies the full drawer, since partitions would only get in the way. Both models cost their own price, so match it to how the drawers will actually be loaded.
What drawer heights are included?
The 14 drawers span seven heights: one 3", three 4", two 5", four 6", two 8", one 9", and one 10". That distribution puts most of the positions in the shallow and mid range where small parts and hand tools go, while still providing deep drawers at the bottom for larger items. The mix is fixed on both models.
What does full extension mean on these drawers?
Full extension means each drawer pulls out its entire 24" depth, so items at the back are as reachable as items at the front. On partial extension slides, the rear portion stays inside the cabinet and requires reaching in blind, which is how tooling pushed to the back effectively disappears from use. At 400 pounds per drawer, full extension also matters for handling heavy items without leaning over the cart.
How does the 72" cart help your facility?

When a working set spans large-format dies, wide tooling assemblies, and diverse instrument sets, a narrower cart forces splitting the kit across two units or leaving part of it behind, and both create the trips this equipment exists to eliminate.
