Strong Hold Double Shift storage cabinets provide two independently lockable compartments within a single 12-gauge all-welded steel cabinet body. Each compartment has its own 3-point locking system compatible with padlocks, so one side can remain fully secured while the other is open and in use. This is the key operational difference from a standard cabinet: two shifts or departments can share one cabinet footprint without sharing access to each other's stored tools, supplies, or equipment.

Construction throughout is 12-gauge steel body with 8-gauge reinforced leaf hinges and stainless steel hinge pins -- the same heavy-duty hinge specification as the Strong Hold Extreme Duty series. Four widths (36", 48", 60", 72"), two heights (66" and 78"), all 24" deep. 

Selecting the Right Cabinet:

♦ Width and shelf capacity: Shelf capacity varies by width across this lineup. The 36"-wide models carry 1,100 pounds per shelf. The 48"-wide models carry 750 pounds per shelf, which is the lowest in the lineup and should be confirmed with Strong Hold before selecting if heavy tooling or parts are being stored. The 60"-wide models carry 975 pounds per shelf. The 72"-wide models carry 925 pounds per shelf.

♦ Height, 66" vs. 78": The 66"-tall models include 6 total shelves (approximately 3 per compartment). The 78"-tall models include 8 total shelves (approximately 4 per compartment). The taller models provide more organized storage per footprint. Verify the shelf count for each compartment against Strong Hold documentation.

♦ Two independent locking compartments: Each side has its own 3-point locking system. This allows one compartment to remain locked while the other is accessed, which matters during shift overlaps, handoffs, or any period when two users are accessing the same cabinet simultaneously. The Little Giant 2-Shift cabinet uses a 2-point keyed system; the Strong Hold Double Shift uses a 3-point system with padlock compatibility, providing stronger physical security on each compartment.

♦ 3-point locking with padlock compatibility: Each compartment locks at three points simultaneously and accepts a separately keyed padlock for additional security. This is a higher level of access control than the 2-point locking on the Little Giant 2-Shift alternative.

♦ 8-gauge hinges: Heavier than standard, matching the hinge specification of the Strong Hold Extreme Duty series, suited to cabinets that receive constant heavy use across multiple shifts.

♦ 24" depth, all models: Unlike the Little Giant 2-Shift, which offers 24" and 30" depths, the Strong Hold Double Shift is available only at 24" depth. For 30"-deep requirements, the Little Giant is the alternative.

Each shift's tools, consumables, and supplies stay locked in their own compartment, with the next shift accessing only what is theirs. Shift handoffs are cleaner, and accountability is maintained without a separate cabinet per shift.

♦ Two-Department Shared Positions: When two adjacent departments, maintenance crews, or production teams share a common storage wall position, each gets a locked compartment with independent key control, without the cost and floor space of two separate cabinets.

♦ Contractor and Facility Maintenance Separation: In facilities where contracted service technicians work alongside in-house maintenance personnel, the Double Shift cabinet provides a practical way to keep each party's tools locked and separated in a shared storage area, reducing disputes over missing equipment.

♦ High-Security Multi-User Environments: The 3-point locking with padlock compatibility on each compartment is appropriate for environments where tool accountability is a compliance requirement, and where the padlock allows each user to provide their own lock for a higher level of individual control.
