The Hallowell 5528 bin shelving unit provides 54 openings per unit in a mixed-height layout: (48) openings at 6" wide x 9" high and (6) openings at 6" wide x 12" high. All 54 openings share the same 6" width. The six taller 6" x 12" positions are on the bottom shelf, accommodating slightly taller items in the same 6"-wide position. The remaining 48 positions at 6" x 9" provide high-density storage for small parts across the upper shelves.

The 5528 offers 50% more positions per unit than the 5527 (54 vs. 36) by stepping down from 9"-wide to 6"-wide openings. It is the correct choice when stored items fit within a 6" wide opening, and a maximum number of positions per unit is needed in a 36" wide x 87" high footprint. Three depth options are available: 12", 18", and 24".

Starter units stand alone or begin a row. Add-on units share a side panel with an adjacent unit to extend the row. 

 

Selecting the Right Depth:

♦ 12" depth, minimum floor footprint. Suited for small parts that fit comfortably in a 6"-wide opening at 12" depth.

♦ 18" depth, standard depth for most 6"-wide bin applications.

♦ 24" depth, maximum depth. For higher per-opening volume or items that require more front-to-back space.

♦ 5528 vs. 5527, choose 5528 when items fit within a 6"-wide opening and 54 positions are needed per unit. Choose 5527 when items require the wider 9"-wide opening.

♦ 5528 vs. 5529, the 5529 uses 6"-wide openings at 6" height for the smallest items and the highest position count. Choose 5529 for the very smallest parts requiring maximum position density. Choose 5528 when a 9" opening height is adequate for the stored items.

♦ Starter vs. add-on units: Order one starter per row. Add-on units share a side panel and cannot stand alone.
