Hallowell Hi-Tech 6-shelf closed stockroom shelving combines the enclosed steel panel construction of the 5-shelf closed series with one additional shelf tier at the same 87" height. Solid steel side and back panels enclose the stored inventory, protecting it from dust and providing a more controlled visual appearance than open shelving. The Hi-Tech structural specification carries through: tubular welded box beams at the front and rear of each shelf, triple-bend side flanges, and reinforced welded corners. Pre-punched shelves accept dividers, and four-clip installation keeps setup fast.

All units are 36" or 48" wide and 87" high, with three depth options (12", 18", or 24") and three gauge tiers. Capacity ranges from 350 to 1,250 pounds per unit. Starter units begin a row and stand alone. Add-on units share uprights with adjacent units at a lower per-bay cost in multi-unit rows.

Selecting the Right Unit:

♦ 6-shelf closed vs. 5-shelf closed, both series are 87" high with the same width, depth, and gauge options. The 6-shelf configuration adds one shelf tier, reducing the average inter-shelf clearance. Choose the 6-shelf when more storage levels per unit are needed, and the reduced inter-shelf height is compatible with the stored items. Choose the 5-shelf when taller items require more clearance between shelf levels.

♦ Closed vs. open 6-shelf Hi-Tech, the closed series adds solid side and back panels compared to the open series. The structural construction and capacity are identical at matching size and gauge combinations. Choose closed when dust protection, inventory containment, or an enclosed visual appearance is required. Choose open when unrestricted access and visibility from multiple angles are preferred.

♦ Width, 36" vs. 48", the 36"-wide units (4521, 5521, 7521) carry higher capacity at each gauge tier than the 48"-wide units (4721, 5721, 7721). Choose 36" when capacity is the priority. Choose 48" when a wider shelf surface suits the items and the lower capacity is adequate.

♦ Depth, 12", 18", or 24", the depth suffix (-12, -18, -24) encodes the shelf depth. Match to the items being stored and the available floor space in front of the shelving.

♦ Capacity tier by gauge: the first digit identifies the gauge tier. The 4xxx series is the lightest gauge (350-500 lb per unit). The 5xxx series is the mid-tier (375-800 lbs per unit). The 7xxx series is the heaviest gauge (750-1,250 lbs per unit). Select the tier based on the actual combined weight of inventory to be stored per unit.

♦ Starter vs. add-on units, starter units stand alone and begin the row. Add-on units require an adjacent starter or add-on to share uprights with; they cannot stand alone. For a single unit, order a starter. For rows of two or more, order one starter and the balance as add-ons.
