Handle-It Guard Rail System
Handle-It Guard Rail System | 10,000 lbs at 4 mph, Modular Industrial Safety Barrier
Handle-It guard rail systems are heavy-duty modular steel safety barriers tested to withstand 10,000 pounds of impact force at four miles per hour, the standard for industrial forklift and powered vehicle traffic in warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers. Steel columns anchor to the floor, and steel rails connect between columns to create a continuous barrier that physically separates vehicle traffic from pedestrian zones, machinery, building columns, in-plant offices, and pallet rack ends.
The bright yellow powder-coat finish is standard across all components, maximizing visibility in active traffic areas and making the barrier system part of the facility's visual management program. The modular design allows sections to be added, removed, or reconfigured as facility layout and workflow change over time without replacing the entire system.
CustomMHS carries the complete Handle-It guard rail lineup: pre-configured single and double-rail units, columns, guard railing in 2' to 10' lengths, Build-A-Rail systems, and five accessory types. Select a category below or call 866-333-0728 to speak with a specialist about layout planning.
Selecting the Right Configuration:
♦ Pre-configured units, the best-selling starting point for most installations. Pre-configured single and double-rail units include columns and rail sections sized for the most common warehouse aisle and perimeter configurations. Order by the unit when the layout is straightforward, and the standard configurations match the protection zone dimensions.
♦ Heavy duty columns, 4-3/4" x 4-3/4" steel columns with a 10" x 10" base plate. Order columns separately when adding to an existing system or when building a custom layout that requires column placement at specific intervals not covered by a pre-configured unit.
♦ Heavy-duty guard railing, individual rail sections in lengths from 2' to 10'. Order railing separately to fill gaps, extend runs, or build a custom layout around machinery, rack ends, or building features that require non-standard rail lengths.
♦ Build-A-Rail, Handle-It's component-level system for facilities that need a fully custom barrier layout. Rail sections from 4' to 10' long, ordered individually and assembled to the specific dimensions of the protection zone.
♦ Accessories, five accessory types extend the system's functionality. The self-closing pedestrian gate allows people to pass through a barrier section, and it automatically closes behind them. The double-rail swing gate with shepherd hooks provides a vehicle or pallet opening along the barrier line. Lift-out adapters allow a rail section to be removed without tools for forklift access. Down guard adapters set rails flush with the floor for low-level protection. The 45-degree angle adapter allows the railing to follow the contour of equipment or walls at corners.
Where Commonly Used:
♦ Pallet Rack End Protection, the ends of pallet rack rows are among the highest-impact-risk locations in any warehouse. Guard rail sections installed at rack ends absorb forklift impacts that would otherwise strike rack uprights, preventing rack damage, load collapse, and the associated structural repair costs.
♦ Pedestrian Walkway Separation, facilities with defined pedestrian walking lanes through active forklift areas install guard rail along the walkway boundaries to provide a physical barrier between walking workers and forklift traffic, reducing the risk of pedestrian-forklift contact.
♦ Building Column Protection: Steel building columns struck by forklifts can sustain significant structural damage. Guard rail installed around column bases absorbs impact before it reaches the column, protecting the building structure and avoiding the safety and insurance consequences of structural damage.
♦ In-Plant Office and Mezzanine Protection, office spaces, break rooms, and mezzanine stairways within active warehouse or manufacturing areas use guard rail to create a protected perimeter that prevents vehicles from striking walls, doors, and structural elements of the office enclosure.
♦ Loading Dock and Dock Door Perimeters, dock areas with high forklift and truck traffic use guard rail to define the active loading zone, protect dock levelers and dock equipment, and prevent vehicles from overrunning the dock edge or striking dock infrastructure.
♦ Machinery and Equipment Zones: production machines, compressors, transformers, and other fixed equipment with defined clearance zones use guardrails to prevent accidental vehicle contact with equipment that is expensive to repair or replace and potentially hazardous if struck.

WHERE TO USE OUR SAFETY GUARD RAIL SYSTEM & WHY USING GUARD RAIL IS IMPORTANT:
Warehouse guard railing systems are an essential safety component within your facility. Guard rail provides a physical and visual barrier to protect from forklift and powered vehicle accidents. The rail system can be installed along pedestrian walkways to keep employees safe. In addition, the guard rail separates work areas from forklift driving lanes. This reduces the chance of worker accidents and equipment damage. Places you should install guarding include implant offices, shipping departments, around machinery, walkways, and at the ends of pallet racking.
