Jamco CV-Series Vertical Cylinder Storage Cabinets
Jamco CV-Series Vertical Cylinder Storage Cabinets
Jamco CV-Series vertical cylinder storage cabinets provide a defined, lockable location for storing multiple gas cylinders upright in a ventilated mesh enclosure. The mesh sides allow air to circulate freely around the cylinders and allow the cabinet contents to be seen at a glance without opening the door, supporting both safety and inventory confirmation. Retention chains inside the cabinet keep cylinders secured upright and prevent tipping during storage. Anchoring pads allow the cabinet to be permanently secured to the floor where stability is required.
Two models cover the range of common multi-cylinder storage needs: the CV051 stores 5 to 10 cylinders in a 33"-wide footprint, and the CV102 stores 10 to 20 cylinders at 60" wide. Both are 38" deep and 70" high with a lockable door.
Models and Specifications:
♦ CV051, 33" wide x 38" deep x 70" high. Stores 5 to 10 cylinders. Ventilated mesh sides. Retention chains. Lockable door. Anchoring pads.
♦ CV102, 60" wide x 38" deep x 70" high. Stores 10 to 20 cylinders. Ventilated mesh sides. Retention chains. Lockable door. Anchoring pads.
Selecting the Right Cabinet:
♦ Cylinder count, 5 to 10 vs. 10 to 20, the CV051 suits smaller cylinder inventories and positions where floor space is limited. The CV102 nearly doubles the cylinder capacity and the cabinet width, making it suited to central storage locations where a higher volume of cylinders must be organized in a single position. Both models share the same 38" depth and 70" height.
♦ Retention chains, the internal retention chains keep each cylinder secured upright within the cabinet, preventing cylinders from tipping into each other during storage or when cylinders are being added or removed. This is the primary restraint mechanism separate from the lockable door, which controls access rather than cylinder position.
♦ Ventilated mesh sides, the mesh construction allows air to circulate around the cylinders, preventing vapor accumulation in the cabinet interior in the event of a minor leak, and allows the cylinder count and condition to be checked visually without opening the cabinet.
♦ Anchoring pads allow the cabinet to be lag-bolted to the floor at a permanent installation position. Floor anchoring is appropriate when the cabinet will not need to be relocated and when maximum tip resistance is required, particularly in positions where forklift traffic or other floor-level impact risk is present nearby.
♦ Jamco CV-Series vs. MECO vertical cylinder storage cabinets, the MECO CSC1V and CSC2V use 13-gauge expanded metal sides and a 12-gauge steel top with a padlock-ready latch. The Jamco CV-Series features mesh sides, a lockable door, and retention chains. Both stores have similar cylinder counts at comparable sizes. Verify which restraint and access control configuration best fits the facility's standard before selecting between them.
Where Commonly Used:
♦ Welding and Fabrication Shops, shops storing acetylene, oxygen, argon, and mixed gas cylinders for welding operations, keep the full cylinder inventory in the CV-Series cabinet at a defined, locked position, with empty and full cylinders organized separately using the retention chains to keep each cylinder in its assigned position.
♦ Manufacturing Plant Maintenance Areas, maintenance departments using multiple gas types for cutting, heating, and equipment operation store their cylinder inventory in the ventilated, lockable CV-Series cabinet rather than chaining individual cylinders to walls or staging them in open areas.
♦ Warehouses and Distribution Centers, facilities using propane-powered forklifts that rotate propane cylinder exchanges through a central storage position, use the CV102 to keep the full exchange inventory secured, organized, and anchored at a permanent floor position.
♦ Laboratories and Research Facilities, labs using specialty gases for instruments and analytical equipment store multiple cylinder types in the ventilated mesh cabinet, where each cylinder type can be visually confirmed by gas label through the mesh sides without opening the cabinet.
♦ Construction and Job Sites: contractors staging gas cylinders at active job sites use the lockable CV-Series cabinet to secure cylinders from theft and unauthorized use, with anchoring pads providing stability on concrete pads and in equipment staging areas.
