Jesco extra-duty self-dumping formed base hoppers carry 4,000 pounds, double the 2,000-pound capacity of the Jesco heavy-duty series for facilities handling dense scrap metal, heavy bulk materials, and high-volume waste that would exceed the load limit of a standard hopper. The formed base construction reinforces the fork pocket area for the repeated high-load lift cycles that extra-duty applications demand. The self-dumping mechanism operates the same as the heavy-duty series: the forklift lifts the hopper, the release mechanism activates, the hopper dumps, and the body resets to the locked position when lowered to the ground.
Six models cover 1.0 to 4.0 cubic yards. The extra duty series does not include the small-volume 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2-yard formats available in the heavy duty series -- the minimum size in this lineup is 1.0 cubic yard. Selecting the Right Hopper:
♦ Volume, select based on the volume of material generated at the collection position between forklift pickups. The 1.0-yard (211531) and 1.5-yard (211541) models suit moderate-volume applications where the 4,000-pound capacity is needed for dense material even at smaller volumes. The 2.0-yard (211551) and 2.5-yard (211561) models suit higher-volume production scrap collection. The 3.0-yard (211571) and 4.0-yard (211581) models suit the highest-volume applications where both capacity and large physical volume are required at a single collection point.
♦ 4,000-pound capacity in context, the 4,000-pound limit is the defining spec difference from the heavy-duty series. Dense scrap materials, steel castings, machined metal parts, and heavy forgings can reach 4,000 pounds in a relatively small volume. The extra duty series is the correct selection when the material density, not just the physical volume, drives the capacity requirement. If the material being collected is low-density (packaging, foam, light debris), the heavy-duty series at the same cubic yard may be adequate at a lower price.
♦ Physical dimensions, dimensions at each cubic yard capacity are the same as the equivalent heavy-duty models at matching volumes (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, and 4.0 yards). The physical footprint and height requirements are therefore identical between the two series at matching sizes. Verify aisle clearance and collection position dimensions against the specific model's size before ordering.
♦ Extra duty vs. heavy duty, both series use formed base construction and the same self-dumping mechanism. The extra-duty series uses heavier-gauge steel construction to achieve a 4,000-pound capacity, vs. 2,000 pounds on the heavy-duty series. Choose the extra duty series when load density is the primary concern. Choose the heavy-duty series when 2,000 pounds is sufficient, and the lower price point is a factor, or when small-volume (1/4 to 1/2 cubic yard) formats are needed.
