Little Giant All-Welded Security Cabinets | Diamond Mesh Welded Steel, 270-Degree Doors 

Little Giant all-welded security cabinets are a fundamentally different type of secure storage than the locker-style steel cabinets carried elsewhere on this site. The entire cabinet body is constructed from welded steel with 3/4" x 1-3/4" diamond mesh openings throughout doors, walls, and back, providing full airflow and partial visibility in all directions while maintaining a locked steel enclosure. Items stored inside cannot be removed through the mesh, but they can be seen, and air circulates freely around them.

The doors swing a full 270 degrees, folding back flat against the cabinet sides when fully open, providing completely unobstructed access to the full width of the cabinet interior. A padlockable slide latch secures both doors simultaneously. A 4" under-clearance allows a pallet truck or forklift to lift and transport the loaded cabinet without unloading it first. The cabinet is 72" interior height (78" OAH) and ships fully assembled.

Three widths (24", 30", 36"), three lengths (48", 60", 72"), and four shelf options (none, 1 center shelf, 2 shelves, or 3 shelves) make up the 27-model lineup. Total capacity is 2,000 pounds per cabinet, rated at 1,000 pounds per shelf.

Selecting the Right Cabinet:

♦ Width and length, the width dimension (24", 30", 36") is the narrower cabinet dimension. The length (48", 60", 72") is the longer cabinet dimension, the direction the doors open toward. The 72"-long models accommodate the longest items (pipe sections, lumber, long-handled tools, extended equipment) without forcing items to be stored diagonally. Select a width based on the available footprint at the installation site and the items to be stored.

♦ Shelf option: the no-shelf (SLN) models provide a completely open interior for bulky, irregular, or floor-stored items. The 1-center-shelf (SL1) models divide the interior at mid-height for two separate storage zones. The 2-shelf (SL2) and 3-shelf (SL3) models provide increasing organization for items that store better on shelves than on the floor. Total capacity does not increase with more shelves; all models are rated at 2,000 pounds total, 1,000 pounds per shelf.

♦ 2,000-pound total capacity vs. per-shelf capacity: the 2,000-pound figure is the total cabinet capacity, not per-shelf. This differs from the capacity ratings on standard steel cabinets in the CustomMHS catalog, which are stated per shelf. Each shelf in this cabinet is rated for 1,000 pounds, and the total across all shelves must not exceed 2,000 pounds.

♦ Diamond mesh vs. perforated steel: the Little Giant mesh openings (3/4" x 1-3/4") are significantly larger than the perforations on the Pucel, Parent Metal, or Hallowell perforated door cabinets, providing more airflow and higher visibility at a lower security level. Items cannot be removed through the mesh, but small items stored near the mesh surface could potentially be touched through the openings. If maximum access restriction through the surface is required, a solid or fine-perforated door cabinet is the appropriate alternative.

♦ 270-degree door swing: when the doors are fully open, they fold back flat against the sides of the cabinet, which means the cabinet requires no additional swing clearance in front of it -- the open doors occupy the space beside the cabinet, not in front of it. Plan the installation position with enough lateral clearance for the doors to fold back without obstruction.

♦ Forklift clearance: the 4" under-clearance allows the loaded cabinet to be repositioned by forklift or pallet truck without unloading. This makes the Little Giant security cabinet suitable for applications where the storage position needs to change periodically or where the entire loaded cabinet needs to be transported from one area to another.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Long Item Storage: pipe, conduit, lumber, dowels, extrusions, and other long-profile materials that don't fit in standard-depth cabinets store in the 72"-long models without cutting or diagonal placement, while remaining secured behind locked doors in a visible mesh enclosure.

♦ Bulky Equipment and Wheel Goods, tools, equipment, and wheel goods that are too large or irregularly shaped for standard locker-style cabinets are stored in the open-interior no-shelf models with the full 72" interior height available for standing items.

♦ High-Value Tool and Consumable Crib Storage: The mesh construction allows crib managers and supervisors to see at a glance whether all tools and consumables are present and in position without unlocking the cabinet, while the padlocked slide latch prevents unauthorized access.

♦ Specimen and Sample Storage, research, testing, and quality control environments where samples, specimens, or reference materials need locked, visible, ventilated storage in a format that doesn't seal contents in a solid enclosure.

♦ Chemical Supply Storage with Airflow Requirements, certain cleaning chemicals, adhesives, and industrial supply materials that require ventilated storage per safety data sheet instructions benefit from the high-airflow mesh enclosure, combined with the padlock-secured access control. Verify with SDS data that mesh storage is appropriate for specific chemicals before use.
