Cantilever Racks for Lumber, Pipe & Long Materials
Cantilever racking is the correct rack style for long, awkward, or irregular materials that don't fit standard pallet racking: lumber, sheet goods, bar stock, pipe, tubing, and coil. Open-front arms extend from a central column, so material loads and unloads from the side without navigating around cross beams, and the rack itself can be sized to any length by adding upright and arm sections.
Cantilever racks are engineered to their own dedicated standard, ANSI MH16.3, published by the Rack Manufacturers Institute, separate from the standard that governs pallet racking. One key stability factor in that standard is the height-to-depth ratio; the taller a cantilever rack is relative to its arm depth, the more prone it becomes to tipping under load. As a general guideline, cantilever racks shouldn't exceed roughly 6 times the arm depth in height without additional anchoring or bracing, which is why you should always size upright height and arm depth together rather than choosing them independently.

Selecting the Right Model:

♦ Arm style: choose Straight Arms for uniform materials, or Inclined Arms for round stock that could roll off a level arm.
