Akro-Mils 4-Inch Plastic Shelf Bin
Akro-Mils 4-inch shelf bins are built for dense storage on shelving where vertical space is limited. Every model is 4 in. high, so more rows of bins fit on each shelf section than with taller bins. Each bin is a one-piece molded polymer bin with a wide hopper front for easy access, a molded-in label area and a built-in rear hanglock that lets the bin tilt out for full access. Empty bins nest to save space.

Shelf depth decides which bin fits. The three bin lengths are 11-5/8, 17-7/8 and 23-5/8 in., sized for 12, 18 and 24 in. deep shelves. Pick a length that stays inside the shelf edge, because a bin that overhangs is a snag hazard and gets knocked off. Catalog listings give outside dimensions, since those decide shelf fit. Check your parts against the inside dimensions.
Five widths, from 2-3/4 to 11-1/8 in., cover a range of part sizes. Dividers split a bin into compartments, up to seven per bin on every model except the narrowest. Dividers are model specific, so order the one that matches the bin width when you order the bin.
Selecting the Right 4-Inch Shelf Bin
◆ Shelf depth, 11-5/8 in. long bins for 12 in. shelves, 17-7/8 in. for 18 in. and 23-5/8 in. for 24 in.
◆ Bin width, 2-3/4, 4-1/8, 6-5/8, 8-3/8 or 11-1/8 in., set by part size and how many bins you want across the shelf opening
◆ Height, 4 in. for maximum rows on closely spaced shelves, or the 6 in. ShelfMax series when bins empty too quickly
◆ Dividers, 40120 for 4-1/8 in. wide bins, 40130 for 6-5/8 in., 40150 for 8-3/8 in. and 40170 for 11-1/8 in., while the 2-3/4 in. model takes none
◆ Carton quantity, 6, 12 or 24 bins per carton, so divide the carton price by the count to compare per bin
◆ Color, six standard colors with additional colors on some models, and each carton is one color
◆ Inside dimensions, so confirm your longest part fits before ordering
