Edge Kadon Heavy-Duty Hopper Boxes

Kadon Hopper Box

Edge Kadon heavy-duty hopper boxes are large black plastic bins for parts that overload a standard small-parts bin. Each model is rated for 150 lb, double the capacity of a typical heavy-duty stacking bin, so they suit fasteners, dense fittings, and steel hardware. The jump from a 75 lb bin to a 150 lb bin is the difference between a container that holds its shape and one that bows, loses its stacking lip, and eventually splits at a corner.

The hopper front is a cut-away front wall with a lower lip. You reach in at an angle and the contents slide forward, so you never have to lift or tilt a loaded box off the shelf to get a part. That matters most with heavy parts, where lifting a full box down is the real hazard.

Size each box with outside and inside dimensions in mind. Outside dimensions decide shelf fit, and inside dimensions decide part fit. On a hopper front the usable length at the bottom is shorter again because of the sloped front. Confirm the weight at full load against the 150 lb rating, and size the box for about two to four weeks of consumption, because an oversized box can hide slow movers and become unsafe to lift.

Selecting the Right Bin
◆ Choose the 6.75" high model for shelf positions with limited vertical clearance
◆ Choose the 9" high model for more volume per position
◆ Choose by inside dimensions for the part, and by outside dimensions for the shelf
◆ Choose a box by weight at full load, and stay under the 150 lb rating
◆ Choose Akro-Mils instead when you need a wider size range with dividers, lids, or window inserts
◆ Order the exact count you need, since each box is sold individually
