Strong Hold Skylight View Cabinet

Strong Hold Skylight View Cabinet

Strong Hold Skylight View Cabinets | Clear Polycarbonate Top and Door Panel

The Strong Hold Skylight View cabinet provides visibility from two directions simultaneously: through the clear door panels from the front, and through the sloped polycarbonate top panel from above. This combination of sightlines is unique in the CustomMHS cabinet lineup and addresses a specific installation scenario where overhead viewing is as important as front-facing visibility in safety-monitored areas, glass-partition offices, high-supervision production floors, and anywhere a supervisor or camera needs a downward view into storage without the cabinet top obstructing that line of sight.

The sloped polycarbonate top also prevents items from being stacked on the cabinet, eliminating the improvised storage and clutter that accumulate on flat-top cabinets in busy work areas. The legless, floor-flush design provides a stable, low-vibration installation without the 6" leg clearance of the legged Strong Hold clear-view series. Construction is all-welded 12-gauge steel with 14-gauge adjustable shelves on 2" centers and a 3-point locking system.

Models and Specifications:

♦ 45-LD-243-NL-SL-SRP: 48" wide x 24" deep x 60" high (68" OAH). 3 shelves. 1,200 pounds per shelf. Clear polycarbonate sloped top. Clear-view doors. 3-point locking. No legs.

♦ 46-LD-243-NL-SL-SRP: 48" wide x 24" deep x 72" high (80" OAH). 4 shelves. 1,200 pounds per shelf. Clear polycarbonate sloped top. Clear-view doors. 3-point locking. No legs.

♦ 55-LD-243-NL-SL-SRP: 60" wide x 24" deep x 60" high (68" OAH). 3 shelves. 1,650 pounds per shelf. Clear polycarbonate sloped top. Clear-view doors. 3-point locking. No legs.

Selecting the Right Model:

♦ Width, 48" vs. 60": The 48"-wide models are rated at 1,200 pounds per shelf. The 60"-wide model is rated at 1,650 pounds per shelf and provides more lateral shelf surface. Choose the 60"-wide model when heavier items or wider storage positions are required.

♦ Height, 60" vs. 72" (48"-wide only): The 60"-high model provides 3 shelves in a mid-height format with a 68" OAH, including the sloped top. The 72"-high model adds a fourth shelf and reaches 80" OAH. Verify overhead clearance, particularly under sprinkler heads, ductwork, or camera mounts, before ordering the taller model. Note that 80" OAH may exceed clearance in many facilities.

♦ Sloped polycarbonate top: The slope prevents items from being placed on the cabinet top, reinforcing a clean, defined top surface rather than an improvised staging area. The polycarbonate material allows light and downward visual inspection of the top shelf area through the top panel. The slope also directs any liquid or debris to run off rather than pool.

♦ No legs (floor-flush): The legless design provides a low center of gravity and stable floor contact. Unlike the legged Strong Hold clear-view cabinets, this model cannot be moved with a forklift or pallet jack without special lifting equipment. Plan the installation position carefully before deploying.

♦ OAH clearance planning: The sloped top adds 8" to each cabinet's nominal height, bringing OAH to 68" (60"-high model) or 80" (72"-high model). The 80" OAH of the taller model exceeds the standard 78" OAH for leg-height cabinets and may conflict with overhead installations. Verify clearance at the specific installation location before ordering the 72"-high model.

♦ Clear door panel material: The polycarbonate material of the top is confirmed. Verify with Strong Hold whether the door panels are polycarbonate or another clear material, and note this before specifying for high-impact environments.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Safety-Monitored Workstations: In environments where supervisors or facility cameras need unobstructed downward visibility into the top shelf area of a storage cabinet as part of a safety or surveillance protocol, the polycarbonate top panel eliminates the blind spot created by a standard solid-top cabinet.

♦ Glass-Partition and Open Office Adjacent Areas: In facilities where storage cabinets are positioned alongside glass walls, partitions, or open sightline spaces and where top-down visibility into the cabinet is as important as front-facing visibility for maintaining a clean, organized appearance.

♦ Production Floor Supervision Zones: Areas where a supervisor on an elevated platform or mezzanine needs to see down into storage to confirm inventory levels, tool presence, or cabinet organization without requiring a technician to open the cabinet or report its contents.

♦ Cleanroom and Controlled Environments: Facilities where preventing items from being stacked on cabinet tops is a contamination control or organizational protocol, and where the sloped polycarbonate top enforces that protocol passively without relying on behavioral compliance.

♦ Security and Accountability Areas: Installations where both front and overhead camera coverage of storage is required for compliance, audit, or loss prevention purposes, and where a clear top panel allows camera confirmation of cabinet contents from above.

♦ Visual Management Lines: Production environments implementing visual management programs where every storage position must be visible without obstruction from multiple directions, and where a supervisor walking the floor can verify cabinet organization at a glance from both the aisle and overhead.
