Strong Hold Tool Crib Steel Storage Cabinets

Strong Hold Tool Crib Steel Storage Cabinets | Two Independent Locking Compartments

Strong Hold Tool Crib Storage Cabinets are designed for tool crib, maintenance, and MRO environments where a single cabinet needs to serve multiple functions: organized, high-capacity tool storage; controlled access by compartment; and an integrated work surface for quick tasks at the cabinet itself.

The cabinet is divided into two independently locking compartments. The upper compartment includes three adjustable shelves, two of which are slotted to accept vertical metal dividers that create bin-style sections for organizing tools, parts, and supplies by type or job. The lower compartment includes one heavy-duty adjustable 14-gauge shelf rated for heavy loads. Between the two compartments, a fixed center shelf at 12" deep provides a built-in staging surface for light assembly, kitting, inspection, or tool repair without tying up a bench.

Three widths are available: 36", 48", and 60". All models are 24" deep and 72" tall (78" overall assembly height). Shelf capacity varies by width and by compartment. All models ship fully assembled.

Models and Specifications:

♦ 36-CT-244: 36" wide x 24" deep x 72" high (78" OAH). Upper compartment: 1,900 pounds per shelf. Lower compartment: 1,425 pounds per shelf.

♦ 46-CT-244: 48" wide x 24" deep x 72" high (78" OAH). Upper compartment: 1,200 pounds per shelf. Lower compartment: 900 pounds per shelf.

♦ 56-CT-244: 60" wide x 24" deep x 72" high (78" OAH). Upper compartment: 1,650 pounds per shelf. Lower compartment: 1,225 pounds per shelf.

Selecting the Right Cabinet:

♦ Width and shelf capacity: Capacity varies by width and by compartment. The 36"-wide model carries the highest per-shelf ratings (1,900 pounds upper, 1,425 pounds lower). The 48"-wide model carries the lowest (1,200 pounds upper, 900 pounds lower). The 60"-wide model falls between (1,650 pounds upper, 1,225 pounds lower). Select width based on the lateral shelf space required for the tool inventory and the weight of items stored per shelf in each compartment.

♦ Two independently locking compartments: The upper and lower compartments each have their own locking system. This allows the upper compartment to remain locked while the lower is accessed, or vice versa. In tool crib applications, this means high-value or controlled tools can be secured in one compartment while consumables and general supplies remain accessible in the other without requiring the same level of access control.

♦ Upper compartment, slotted divider-ready shelves: Two of the three upper shelves are slotted to accept vertical metal dividers. These create defined bin sections that keep items of the same type or job together, preventing mixing and speeding retrieval. Verify whether dividers are included with the cabinet or require a separate order.

♦ Fixed 12" center work shelf: The center shelf is 12" deep, providing a shelf surface that projects into the interior at the compartment boundary. This serves as a staging, kitting, or inspection surface directly at the cabinet, without the need for an adjacent bench. It is not a full 24" deep storage shelf; it is a built-in work ledge.

♦ Lower compartment, 14-gauge heavy adjustable shelf: The single lower shelf is built from heavier-gauge material suited to storing the densest tools, heavy spare parts, or bulky equipment at the base of the cabinet, where the lower center of gravity is structurally advantageous.

♦ 78" OAH: Verify overhead clearance at the installation location. The 6" welded legs account for the difference between the 72" nominal cabinet height and the 78" overall assembly height, consistent with other Strong Hold cabinets in the legged configuration.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Tool Cribs and Tool Issuing Stations: The defining application. The upper locked compartment secures high-value tooling available only through authorized issue. The lower compartment holds consumables, general supplies, and less critical items accessible without the same restrictions. The center work shelf supports the tool crib attendant's issuing, inspection, and documentation work directly at the cabinet.

♦ Maintenance Departments with Tiered Tool Accountability: Where critical specialty tools need stricter access control than general hand tools, the two-compartment configuration lets a maintenance supervisor maintain that distinction in a single cabinet footprint rather than two separate units.

♦ MRO Storage with Parts Organization: The slotted upper shelves with dividers organize small parts, repair kits, and consumables by equipment or job, so the MRO attendant or technician can quickly locate the right parts without searching through a mixed inventory on open shelves.

♦ Production Line Tool and Supply Stations: A cabinet at a production line or assembly cell that holds line-specific tooling and fixtures in the upper locked compartment, with consumables and shared supplies in the lower compartment accessible by any line worker.

♦ Shift Handoff Tool Control Points: The independently locking compartments support shift handoff procedures where one shift's specialized tools remain locked in one compartment while the incoming shift's common tools are available in the other, maintaining clear accountability across the handoff without needing separate cabinets per shift.
