The WireCrafters 2-Wall Style 840 Medium-Duty Security Cage is a modular welded-wire partition system designed for fast, professional installation of tool cribs and security cages. When to Use 2" x 1" Woven Wire Over 2" x 2" Welded Wire

Both mesh types stop casual access, but they fail differently and protect against different threats. The first question is whether the barrier is doing security work or separation work.

Woven mesh is interlocked at every crossing rather than fused. Cutting one strand does not open a hole, because the surrounding weave still holds the pattern in place. Welded mesh relies on the weld at each intersection, so breaking a few welds can open a gap faster. The 2" x 1" opening also matters as much as the wire itself. A 1-inch dimension blocks a hand and forearm, preventing you from reaching through to a latch, a lock, or the inventory sitting just inside the line. A 2" x 2" opening does not.
