Akro-Mils Straight Wall Plastic Containers Stackable Totes Solid or Mesh

Akro-Mils straight-wall containers are stackable, reusable totes built for warehousing, distribution, and production environments where consistent container geometry, stable stacking, and long service life matter. Straight interior walls maximize usable cube and allow containers to stack cleanly on pallets and in racks without wasted space.

Ten models are available across two footprint sizes, three depths, and three wall style configurations. All are sold by the carton. Prices are shown by manufacturer model number for straightforward competitor comparison.

Choosing the Right Wall Style:

Wall style is the most important decision on this page. The three configurations differ in visibility, airflow, drainage, and cleanability.

♦ Mesh Sides and Bottom -- Open mesh on all four sides and the floor. Best for parts washing, drying, and processing applications where water or cleaning solution must drain freely. Also improves part visibility and airflow in storage. The right choice when contents need to be seen, dried, or cleaned without removing them from the container.

♦ Mesh Sides with Solid Bottom -- Open mesh sides with a solid floor. Best when airflow and side visibility are needed, but liquid pooling on the floor or small parts falling through the bottom are concerns. A practical middle option for operations that want visibility without drainage through the base.

♦ Solid Sides and Bottom -- Fully enclosed on all four sides and the floor. Best for general storage, shipping, and distribution where contents require full containment, dust-free cleanliness, or protection from contact with adjacent containers. The most versatile option for standard warehouse use.

If your primary use is parts washing or inspection, choose mesh sides and a bottom. If you need visibility without drainage, choose mesh sides with a solid bottom. For standard storage and shipping, solid sides and a bottom are the appropriate selection.

Choosing the Right Size:

All ten models come in one of two footprints. Within each footprint, select depth based on your load height and available shelf or rack clearance.

Small Footprint -- 15-3/4" x 11-3/4" outside:
♦ 37208 -- 8-1/4" deep, mesh sides and bottom. 12 per carton.
♦ 37288 -- 8-1/4" deep, solid sides and bottom. 12 per carton.

These are the only two models in the small footprint. If you need a different depth in the small size, consider the Quantum RSO Series or Monoflo NSO Series for additional depth options in similar footprints.

Large Footprint -- 23-3/4" x 15-3/4" outside:
♦ 37608 -- 8-1/4" deep, mesh sides and bottom. 4 per carton.
♦ 37612 -- 12-1/4" deep, mesh sides and bottom. 3 per carton.
♦ 37678 -- 8-1/4" deep, mesh sides, solid bottom. 4 per carton.
♦ 37672 -- 12-1/4" deep, mesh sides, solid bottom. 3 per carton.
♦ 37676 -- 16-1/8" deep, mesh sides, solid bottom. 2 per carton.
♦ 37688 -- 8-1/4" deep, solid sides and bottom. 4 per carton.
♦ 37682 -- 12-1/4" deep, solid sides and bottom. 3 per carton.
♦ 37686 -- 16-1/8" deep, solid sides and bottom. 2 per carton.

The 16-1/8" deep models (37676 and 37686) are the deepest in the range and best for tall parts or operations requiring the most internal volume per tote in this footprint.

Where Akro-Mils Straight Wall Containers Are Most Commonly Used:

♦ Parts washing and processing -- Mesh-side and bottom models allow full drainage and airflow, making them the standard choice for industrial parts cleaning, degreasing, and drying operations where parts remain in the container throughout the cycle.
♦ Warehouse storage and order picking -- Solid wall models provide full containment for general parts, hardware, and finished goods storage. Consistent footprint and stable stacking support high-density pallet and rack storage.|
♦ Distribution and closed-loop shipping -- Reusable construction and consistent geometry support returnable transport programs that cycle totes between facilities, reducing corrugated usage and per-shipment packaging cost.
♦ Inspection and quality hold areas -- Mesh-side models allow visual inspection of container contents without opening or moving parts, speeding up quality review and hold area management.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are Akro-Mils straight wall containers?
Akro-Mils straight wall containers are stackable, reusable totes built for warehousing, distribution, and production environments. Straight interior walls maximize usable cube and let containers stack cleanly on pallets and in racks without wasted space. Ten models cover two footprint sizes, three depths, and three wall style configurations, all sold by the carton.
What are the three wall styles, and how do they differ?
Mesh sides and bottom are open on all four sides and the floor, so water and cleaning solution drain freely. Mesh sides with a solid bottom keep the airflow and side visibility but hold liquid and small parts on the floor of the container. Solid sides and bottom fully enclose the contents. The differences come down to visibility, airflow, drainage, and cleanability.
Which wall style should I choose?
Choose mesh sides and bottom for parts washing, drying, and processing, where contents need to be seen, dried, or cleaned without removing them from the container. Choose mesh sides with a solid bottom when you want visibility and airflow but liquid pooling or small parts falling through would be a problem. Choose solid sides and bottom for general storage, shipping, and distribution where contents need full containment and dust-free cleanliness.
What sizes are available?
Two footprints. The small footprint at 15-3/4" x 11-3/4" outside has only two models, the 37208 in mesh sides and bottom and the 37288 in solid, both 8-1/4" deep and 12 per carton. The large footprint at 23-3/4" x 15-3/4" outside covers eight models across all three wall styles in 8-1/4", 12-1/4", and 16-1/8" depths.
What if I need a different depth in the small footprint?
The small footprint only comes in the 8-1/4" depth, so if your parts need more or less clearance in that footprint, the Quantum RSO Series or Monoflo NSO Series offer additional depth options in similar sizes. In the large footprint, the 16-1/8" deep models, the 37676 and 37686, are the deepest available and give the most internal volume per tote.
How do straight wall containers help your facility?
Consistent container geometry is what makes stacking predictable, so pallets and rack positions load to their full height without the wasted space that mismatched containers create. In parts washing and processing, mesh models let parts stay in the container through the full clean and dry cycle rather than being transferred between steps. In quality hold areas, mesh sides allow inspection without opening or moving parts, which speeds up review. And reusable construction supports closed-loop shipping programs that cycle totes between facilities, cutting corrugated usage and per-shipment packaging cost.
