WireCrafters Driver Access Cages and Building Access Cages

WireCrafters Driver Access Cages and Building Access Cages                   WireCrafters Driver & Building Access Cages

A driver access cage puts an incoming truck driver in a defined, visible space near the dock door, with room to do paperwork, instead of leaving the driver on the warehouse floor. WireCrafters Driver Access Cages, also called Building Access Cages, enclose the area around an exterior entry door so drivers, vendors and visitors stay out of forklift lanes, production areas and automated work cells. The buying guide calls this one of the lowest-cost controls for dock-side shrink.

The cages are built on the Style 840 wire partition system, with 10 gauge wire in a 2" x 1" woven pattern and 2" x 2" square steel posts. The MT2 series has two wire sides and sits in a corner using two building walls, and the MT3 series has three wire sides and needs only one building wall. Both come in widths from 3'-4" to 8'-6" and depths from 3'-4" to 8'-4", with a hinged door (3' on the 3'-4" widths, 4' on the larger sizes). The MTB-4, MTB-6 and MTB-8 steel benches, 4', 6' and 8' long, offer a simpler check-in point without a full enclosure.

Options include a service window with a shelf so drivers can sign paperwork without entering the building, a push bar for exit, coded, card reader and electric strike locks, and a ceiling. Service windows and Dutch doors are priced and ordered separately, so specify them when you order.

Selecting the Right Model
◆ Wall count, choose a 2-wall MT2 for a corner formed by two building walls, or a 3-wall MT3 where only one building wall is available
◆ Size, the table lists widths from 3'-4" to 8'-6" and depths from 3'-4" to 8'-4", so measure the entry door and the check-in space you want to enclose
◆ Door, hinged doors are 3' wide on the 3'-4" cages and 4' wide on the larger cages, so size the door for the carts and deliveries that pass through
◆ Service window, add a service window with a shelf when drivers need to pass paperwork without entering the warehouse, and order it separately
◆ Bench, choose an MTB-4, MTB-6 or MTB-8 bench (4', 6' or 8' long) when you need a defined check-in point without a full enclosure
◆ Lock, price the lock and exit hardware early, since options range from key locks and push bars to coded locks, card readers and electric strikes
◆ Ceiling, add a ceiling when you want a fully enclosed cage

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a driver access cage and why is it used?

A WireCrafters driver access cage is a secure enclosure used to control entry for delivery drivers or visitors at a facility. It creates a safe check-in point where credentials can be verified before access is granted. These cages help prevent unauthorized movement into employee-only or sensitive areas.

What is a man trap enclosure for visitor check-in?

A man trap enclosure is a controlled entry vestibule with two secure doors that operate one at a time. It ensures a visitor cannot enter further until the first door is locked and access is approved. This adds an extra layer of protection against tailgating or forced entry.

How do WireCrafters building access cages improve facility security?

WireCrafters building access cages create a physical barrier that limits unauthorized access inside a facility. They help manage foot traffic by separating visitors from restricted operational areas. This reduces theft risk and strengthens overall building entry control.

Are these access cages customizable for different building layouts?

Yes, WireCrafters access cage systems are modular and can be customized for many facility layouts. Sizes, door types, roof panels, and security features can all be adjusted to meet your requirements. This flexibility makes them ideal for warehouses, docks, and controlled entry points.

Where are driver and visitor access cages most commonly installed?

These cages are commonly installed at warehouse entrances, loading docks, and high-security access points. They are frequently used in distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and logistics facilities. Any location requiring controlled visitor check-in can benefit from these systems.

What is the difference between a driver access cage and a building access cage?

A driver access cage is typically designed for delivery personnel near shipping and receiving areas. A building access cage is more often used at main entrances to control all visitor and employee access. Both improve security, but they serve slightly different traffic and access purposes.

Is the manufacturer’s warranty included with my purchase?

Yes. All products sold on CustomMHS.com include the original manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise noted. Custom MHS is an authorized dealer for the brands we carry, which means your purchase is covered by the manufacturer's full factory warranty.
