Husky 42x240 Starter Pallet Rack Section | IU24 Upright Frame

Husky 42x240 Starter IU24 Pallet Racking, Heavy-Duty Warehouse Storage Rack

Husky 42" deep x 240" high Starter Warehouse Pallet Racking features two teardrop punches side by side on 2" centers. Husky Beams are adjustable in 2-inch increments, and the system is compatible with most other manufacturers' teardrop patterns. This tall starter unit provides exceptional vertical storage capacity and is well-suited to facilities that maximize cube space in high-ceiling warehouses.

The teardrop pattern is an industry standard and accepts most teardrop-style beams, giving you flexibility to match or expand existing racking. Beams feature the patented Bowlock safety clip, which cannot be sprung or removed without first removing the beam and requires no special tools, supporting faster and safer installation and reconfiguration. Standard colors are green uprights with orange beams.

Use the Pallet Rack Starter unit to begin each row or as an individual stand-alone unit. Pallet racking like this is used for storing bulk loads that traditionally take up floor space and are loaded with forklifts. Thirty-eight configurations are available across six widths, multiple beam capacities, three or four upper shelf levels, and with or without wire decking.

Selection Guide:

♦ Width: from 48" to 144"; select based on the pallet footprint and the total horizontal storage span needed per bay.

♦ Beam capacity, ranging from 3,000 lbs up to 8,873 lbs per pair depending on width and configuration, should be selected based on the weight of the palletized loads being stored.

♦ Shelf count: three or four upper levels; select based on how much vertical separation is needed for different product categories or load types at this extra-tall 240" height.

♦ Wire decking, adding wire decking provides support for cartons, smaller items, and packaging materials that could otherwise fall through open beams, particularly useful in mixed-load storage.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Distribution Center High-Cube Storage: Distribution centers use this extra-tall starter unit to maximize vertical storage capacity in high-ceiling facilities without expanding floor space.

♦ Manufacturing Raw Material and Finished Goods Storage: Manufacturing facilities use this racking to store palletized raw materials and finished goods vertically, freeing up floor space for production.

♦ Fulfillment Center High-Volume Storage: fulfillment centers use this racking to scale storage capacity as inventory grows, starting with a single starter unit and expanding over time.

♦ Bulk Storage Operations Maximizing Cube Space, bulk storage operations use the 240" height to achieve maximum storage density in facilities with the tallest available ceiling clearance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Husky 42x240 starter upright pallet racking unit used for?
A Husky 42x240 starter upright pallet racking unit is designed to provide heavy-duty vertical storage for palletized inventory in warehouse and industrial environments. It serves as the starting section of a pallet rack row, including the upright frames and beam connections needed for safe load support. Starter units can stand alone or expand with add-on bays as storage needs grow. They are essential for organizing bulk inventory while maximizing warehouse capacity.
How does the 42x240 size support high-capacity warehouse storage?
The deeper rack depth allows storage of larger pallets and bulk inventory loads, while the tall upright height provides substantial vertical storage capability. This makes it ideal for warehouses, maximizing cube space and handling high-volume goods. The size improves storage density without expanding floor space. It delivers strong performance for demanding industrial storage operations.
Why are heavy-duty upright frames important for pallet racking safety?
Upright frames are the vertical foundation of pallet racking, supporting the full weight of stored pallet loads. Heavy-duty uprights provide stability and durability in high-traffic forklift environments. Strong frames help prevent misalignment, structural damage, and load safety risks over time. Reliable uprights are essential for long-term warehouse storage performance.
What types of facilities benefit most from tall starter upright pallet racking?
Tall starter upright racking is widely used in distribution centers, manufacturing plants, fulfillment warehouses, and bulk storage operations. Facilities storing large quantities of palletized inventory benefit from increased vertical capacity. These systems reduce floor congestion while improving accessibility and organization. They are especially valuable in high-density warehouse environments.
How does pallet racking improve workflow and warehouse efficiency?
Pallet racking keeps inventory stored in clearly defined vertical locations, making picking and replenishment faster and more consistent. It reduces clutter on warehouse floors and improves aisle safety for forklifts and workers. Organized rack systems also support better inventory control and load management. This leads to smoother operations and fewer disruptions.
