Vestil Self-Leveling Auto-Hite Cart | Adjustable Tension Springs, 14" to 34" Service Range

The Vestil Auto-Hite is a spring-loaded self-leveling cart that automatically maintains the platform at a consistent working height as weight is added or removed. When a load is placed on the platform, the spring compresses, causing the platform to descend. As weight is removed, the spring extends, and the platform rises. No pumping, pedal operation, or button pressing is required; the adjustment occurs passively on every cycle.

The tension springs are adjustable, allowing the cart to be tuned to the specific weight range of the materials being handled. This ensures the self-leveling mechanism operates correctly within the application's load range rather than being set to a fixed spring rate. All-steel construction with a removable handle and 5" x 2" polyurethane casters -- two rigid and two swivel with brakes provides mobility and stable positioning. Service range is 14" to 34" on all models.

Seven models are available across three platform sizes and four capacity tiers. The 42" x 42" and 48" x 48" platforms are well-suited to palletized loads and large carton quantities, where a narrow platform would be insufficient.

Selecting the Right Model:

♦ Platform size, 20-3/8" x 40-3/8" for standard carton, tote, and parts handling where a narrower platform is adequate. 42" x 42" or 48" x 48" for palletized loads, large carton quantities, or applications where load dimensions require a wider base. The 48" x 48" platform provides the largest load surface in the lineup.

♦ Capacity and spring tuning: Select a model with a rated capacity at or above the maximum expected load weight. The adjustable tension springs must be tuned to the operating load range. A 2,000-lb model used with light loads will not self-level properly without spring adjustment. Verify the spring tension is set for the actual working load range before putting the cart into service.

♦ Narrow platform (20-3/8" x 40-3/8") for mobility, the two narrow-platform models (SCSC-500-2040 and SCSC-750-2040) are more maneuverable in tight aisles and at workstations where aisle width limits the cart footprint. The larger square platforms require more clearance for navigation and positioning.

♦ All models share the same 14" to 34" service range, so platform size and capacity are the only differentiating variables between models.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Case and Carton Picking: order-picking operations where cartons are removed from the cart one at a time. Use the Auto-Hite to maintain the top carton at a consistent reach height throughout the pick cycle, eliminating the progressive bending that occurs as the stack height decreases on a fixed-height cart.

♦ Packing Station Supply: packing operations where a supply of cartons, totes, or materials is staged on the cart and consumed throughout the shift. Use the Auto-Hite to keep the working surface at a stable height automatically, allowing packers to work in a consistent posture from the first item to the last.

♦ Palletized Load Handling, warehouse and distribution operations using the 42" or 48" platform models to stage palletized goods or large carton quantities at an ergonomic working height. Use the 1,000-lb and 2,000-lb models for self-leveling at pallet-scale loads.

♦ Assembly Parts Supply, assembly operations staging small parts bins or component trays on the cart at the assembly position use the Auto-Hite to maintain access height automatically as parts are consumed, keeping the remaining parts at a consistent reach level without operator intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a self-leveling Auto-Hite cart, and how does it work?
A self-leveling Auto-Hite cart is a spring-loaded lift table on wheels that automatically keeps the top surface at a comfortable working height as weight is added or removed. Instead of cranking, pumping, or adjusting controls, the internal spring mechanism responds to changing load levels. That means you spend less time bending, reaching, or stopping to reposition the work. It is a practical way to keep workflows smooth while improving day-to-day ergonomics.
Why does self-leveling matter for ergonomics and productivity?
When the work surface stays near waist height, you reduce repetitive strain from constant stooping, awkward lifting, and extended reaching. That translates into less fatigue during long shifts and fewer slowdowns due to discomfort. Teams also tend to move faster when they are not constantly re-adjusting equipment or searching for the right working height. If you are handling parts, cartons, or assemblies all day, this is one of the simplest upgrades that delivers immediate value.
Where do spring-loaded lift tables fit best in a facility?
They shine anywhere items are frequently loaded and unloaded, like packing stations, kitting areas, maintenance rooms, assembly lines, and receiving. If your operators handle mixed weights throughout the day, self-leveling helps keep the surface consistent without extra steps. They also work well as mobile staging carts that follow the work rather than requiring the work to come to a fixed table. If you have multiple work zones, mobility plus self-leveling is a strong combination.
What should I look for when choosing the right model?
Start with the typical weight range you set on the platform, as spring-loaded units are most effective when the load remains within the intended working range. Think about platform size relative to your totes, cartons, or components so items sit securely and are easy to access. Wheel type, brake style, and maneuverability matter more than most people expect, especially if you roll across thresholds or uneven surfaces. If you want the best long-term result, match the cart to both your loads and your floor conditions.
How does this compare to hydraulic lift tables or fixed-height carts?
Fixed-height carts are simple, but they require workers to adjust their posture as load height changes, which leads to discomfort and wasted motion. Hydraulic lift tables give you control, but they often require manual pumping or powered adjustment, and that can interrupt the rhythm of work. A self-leveling spring unit is the set-it-and-forget-it option for repetitive load changes, because it reacts automatically. If your goal is fewer adjustments and more consistent ergonomics, self-leveling is usually the most convenient choice.
How will this help my operation day one, and what is the buying payoff?
You will notice less bending and fewer awkward lifts immediately, especially during unloading, when the work surface would normally drop lower and lower. That can mean faster picking, packing, and assembly because the operator stays in a strong posture and keeps both hands on the task. Over time, these carts help reduce wear and tear on teams while keeping work moving steadily. If you want an ergonomic improvement that is easy to adopt and simple to roll into existing processes, this is a high-impact choice.
