Little Giant 3LG-Series 3-Shelf Steel Service Cart | Heavy-Duty Utility Cart

The Little Giant 3LG-Series 3-Shelf Steel Service Cart is a robust, economical shelf truck built for industrial material handling. All-welded construction ships are fully assembled and ready for immediate use. Heavy 12-gauge steel shelves provide strong support for demanding daily loads. Non-marking polyurethane casters with ball-bearing wheels available in 5" or 6" sizes deliver smooth, quiet rolling. Two swivel casters with brakes provide secure positioning, while two rigid casters support stable straight-line tracking.

The bottom shelf includes a standard retaining lip to help contain small parts, boxes, and hardware during transport. The top shelf can be configured with the lip up for containment or down for a flush surface, adapting the cart to different daily tasks. Capacity scales with caster size: 5" casters rate the cart at 1,200 lbs (35" top shelf height); 6" casters increase capacity to 2,000 lbs (36" top shelf height).

Nine configurations are available across five sizes and both caster/capacity tiers.

Selection Guide:

♦ Caster size and capacity: 5" polyurethane casters rate the cart at 1,200 lbs; 6" polyurethane casters increase capacity to 2,000 lbs. Select based on the maximum expected load weight for your application.

♦ Size: from 18"x24" up to 30"x60", select based on the footprint of materials being transported and available floor space. The 1,200 lb tier covers five sizes; the 2,000 lb tier covers four sizes at 24" width or greater.

♦ Three-shelf organization: the additional third shelf supports separating items by task or priority, useful for jobs involving fasteners, fittings, electrical components, or other mixed small parts that benefit from dedicated storage levels.

♦ Swivel caster brakes, standard on all models, prevent unwanted rolling during loading, unloading, or when the cart is parked at a workstation, improving control and safety in crowded work areas.

Where Commonly Used:

♦ Maintenance and Repair Kit Staging: Maintenance departments staging repair kits and supplies use the three-shelf design to organize tools, parts, and materials by task, reducing time spent searching during service calls.

♦ Production Floor Work-in-Process Support: Production floors moving work-in-process materials and components between stages use the 2,000-lb-capacity tier for consolidated loads that reduce trip frequency and improve throughput.

♦ Department Supply and Consumables Runs, facilities running regular supply and consumables deliveries between departments, use the retaining-lip bottom shelf to secure smaller items during transport across the facility.

♦ Warehouse Parts and Component Organization: Warehouse operations organizing parts, fittings, and hardware use the three-shelf configuration to separate inventory categories on a single mobile cart.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the Little Giant 3-Shelf 3LG-Series Steel Service Cart built for?
This is a heavy-duty, all-welded steel service cart designed for industrial material handling where reliability matters. With three shelves and a capacity up to 2,000 pounds, it is made to move tools, parts, and supplies efficiently across busy facilities. It arrives fully assembled, so it can go straight into service without setup delays. The layout works well for staging work-in-progress, maintenance kits, or department supply runs.
How does the 2,000-pound capacity and all-welded build help in real-world use?
A high capacity gives you room to consolidate loads, reducing multiple trips and improving throughput. The all-welded construction adds rigidity and long-term durability, especially in environments where carts take constant impacts and heavy-weight cycles. This combination is ideal for maintenance areas, production floors, and warehouses where lighter carts can flex, loosen, or wear out quickly. If you need a cart that remains stable when fully loaded, this design is ideal.
What makes the shelves practical for mixed loads and small parts?
The cart uses heavy 12-gauge shelves for strong support under demanding weight. The bottom shelf features a retaining lip to prevent small parts, boxes, or hardware from sliding off during movement. This is useful for jobs that involve fasteners, fittings, electrical components, or packaged items that tend to shift. With three shelves, you can also separate items by task or priority to stay organized.
How does the top shelf configuration change how you use the cart?
The top shelf is 35 inches above the ground, a comfortable working height for staging parts or performing light tasks while standing. You can configure the top shelf with the lip facing up to contain items, or flip it down for a more flush surface when sliding items on and off. That flexibility helps the cart adapt to different workflows, from transporting loose supplies to supporting a cleaner staging surface. It is a small detail that can make daily use smoother.
What caster options does it have, and why do brakes and ball bearings matter?
The cart uses non-marking polyurethane casters in either 5-inch or 6-inch sizes, and the ball-bearing wheels help it roll more smoothly under load. The setup includes two swivel casters with brakes for steering and secure positioning, plus two rigid casters for stable tracking in straight lines. Brakes help prevent unwanted rolling during loading, unloading, or when parked at a workstation. Together, the caster system improves control, protects floors, and supports safer handling in crowded work areas.
